2025 Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two special feature: SV Track Attack Part 2
11x National Racing Champion Arjun Balu sets a new record at CoASTT in the Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two
Previously on SV Track Attack, we put the Range Rover Sport SV Edition Two through its paces at the Madras International Circuit (MIC) with none other than Diana Pundole — India’s first female National Racing Champion. If you haven’t read Part 1 yet, we highly recommend starting there for the full experience.
Now, let’s shift gears and head back to CoASTT for an action-packed SV Track Attack Day with Arjun Balu!
Where MIC may be the oldest track in the country, CoASTT is the newest. Situated on the outskirts of Coimbatore, it has quickly become one of the go-to tracks for enthusiasts. With constant changes of direction and elevation, and a mix of flowing and tight corners, it is very demanding on both driver and the suspension of the car. Perfect to put the trick 6D Dynamics suspension to the test.

The 6D Dynamics suspension is an innovation that allows the Range Rover SV to deliver exceptional ride quality on road while allowing the car to corner incredibly hard. It does away with traditional anti-roll bars and instead gets a hydraulically interlinked damping system that pumps fluid into the dampers to counteract pitch and roll. It is controlled by two independent ECUs and saves 8kg over a traditional anti-roll system. It limits squat and dive under hard acceleration and braking, and it keeps the body flat while cornering. We were running Michelin Pilot Sport All Season 4 tyres and despite that, the SV was pulling 1.1 lateral Gs at CoASTT. That’s insane levels of mechanical grip! The system works at up to 270 bar of pressure in the system under really sporty driving conditions.
The car felt really composed in the demanding corners of CoASTT. The brakes did a fantastic job of slowing the car down and the lack of dive gives you real confidence in the front end. The steering is really well calibrated and the car rotates willingly – very unlike what a large SUV would usually do. On the faster, more sweeping corners, the sense of roll was very controlled. The rear tyres did spin up and induce oversteer on certain parts of the track, but the suspension allowed the body to stay flat, the SUV remaining predictable and easy to catch. And all of this, without the optional carbon wheels and carbon ceramic brakes that shave off some 66kg of unsprung weight. Speccing those would bump up the price on the invoice but they would also take the handling up by more than just a couple of notches.

Arjun Balu, 11-time national racing champion and a trustee at CoASTT was enlisted to set the time at the track. He was up to speed in no time. After setting a time in the low 2 minutes, he was adamant that he could do better. And sure enough, he went out for another run later in the day and set a 1:59.586. B Prithiviraj, a steward from the FMSCI, was at hand and certified this lap time, making it the official lap record for SUVs around CoASTT!

Arjun walked away from the Rangie, mighty impressed. “However hard you push it, it just sits on the suspension and stays right there. Contact of all four tyres is there all the time and you are only limited by the grip of the tyres. It’s very easy to balance it on the throttle. It doesn’t do anything untoward and provides a very planted feel,” he said, all praise for the 6D Dynamics suspension. While the suspension and engine were critical to get the perfect lap, there was one more key to the puzzle. A single button that allows you to extract the most out of this Range Rover – SV Mode. To explore that, we will be heading a stone’s throw away from CoASTT to the Kari Motor Speedway in part 3.
