2022 Red Bull Ace of Dirt | Day 1 report
The Red Bull Ace of Dirt which is held at the BigRock Dirtpark is back and back with a bang with its third edition for 2022. The third edition of the Red Bull Ace of Dirt saw a record-breaking 60 plus entries this year which is a little over double the number of people who participated last year. This year is also the first year where extremely talented international riders are also participating and they along with entries from the likes of Yuva Kumar, winner of the first-ever Ace of Dirt will give all the participants a proper run for their money.
The Red Bull Ace of Dirt was hardly an easy affair for even experienced riders and this time around the track has become more demanding and complex with the addition of quite a few obstacles. The track is approximately 1.2km long designed by C S Santosh and his team with the goal to make it as challenging as possible for the competitors. some of the noteworthy obstacles include the Mudpie — a steep downhill slope with a puddle of slush at the bottom followed by a steep uphill climb, the Splatter — a near-vertical climb followed by tractor tyres set in staggering sizes and the newly added Wall Ride which is basically a wall placed at a 45-degree angle right next to a bed of rocks, so the rider has to either choose the wall or the rocks. Most of the riders were riding Hero Xpulse 200s or Hero Impulses.
60 riders in total set out today, in batches of ten in what are called ‘heats’ or simply put ‘races’. A total of six batches were set loose on the track and the five fastest riders in each batch have been selected for the final day of kicking up dust and slush at the 2022 Red Bull Ace of Dirt. Pavan BK set the fastest time for the day with a time of 16 minutes and 20.625 seconds for completing five laps of the course.
Tomorrow will kick off the final day of the 2022 Red Bull Ace of Dirt in which the top 30 riders go head to head over 4 heats after which the top 16 riders will be selected, then the top 6 who will fight it out till the victor is crowned and earn themselves a spot to train with the legend C S Santosh himself. To make the event more special, Joaquim Rodrigues — JRod and a bunch of star international riders will also be present and guiding all the competitors. Stay tuned for all the action from Day 2 of the 2022 Red Bull Ace of Dirt.
