Honda to race its Moto3 machine NSF 250R in India

Honda Motorcycle and Scooters India (HMSI) will be bringing their Moto3 Championship winning motorcycle, the NSF 250R to India and have also laid out a roadmap to take India’s best racing talents and prepare them for national and international championships.

Three new teams to promote Indian racing talent

To replicate their success in Asia & Oceania, the Honda Group in the region, including India have created three teams for Asian riders to participate in International racing championships. Namely the Honda Asia Dream Racing, Idemitsu Honda and Honda team asia. The Honda Asia Dream Racing team will compete in the Suzuka eight hours endurance race and JSB1000 class of All Japan Road Race Championship in Japan. The Idemitsu Honda Team Asia is a platform for Asian riders in Moto2 and the Honda Team Asia will compete in Moto3 class of FIM Road Racing Championship.

With a clear development path and structured approach to nurture riders in place, we now want to take Indian motorsports to the next level. Honda will introduce the Moto3 machine NSF 250R as competition bike in India next year. India’s best racers from Honda India Talent Cup and national championship will be racing on NSF 250R in a separate series running parallel to existing national championships. Honda’s 2015 Moto3 championship winning motorcycle is coming to India

The Honda NSF 250R is a Moto3 spec bike and has been developed by Honda Racing Corporation (HRC) who have put in years of rigorous research and development. The NSF 250R is a compact, lightweight and high-performance motorcycle, an ideal learning tool for young talent to gain experience and progress from entry level racing to Grand Prix racing such as Moto2, Moto3 and MotoGP.

The NSF 250R is powered by a 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, DOHC single-cylinder, 249cc engine. It is tuned to make 47.6bhp at 13,000rpm and 28Nm of torque at 10,500rpm, while power is delivered to the rear wheels via a 6-speed gearbox. The engine is assisted by RAM air intake to help deliver high power even in hot conditions. The 250R race machine weighs in at 84kgs. It also has a low centre of gravity and an optimized swingarm for better handling.
