After a successful victory in stage one, Dmitri Sotnikov and team carried the winning title in 685km stage two of 2021 Dakar. The Kamaz Master truck piloted by Dmitri Sotnikov and Ruslan Akhmadeev finished first while another Kamaz team consisting of Airat Mardeev and Dmitri Svistunov as driver and co-driver finished second.
Dmitri Sotnikov and Ruslan Akhmadeev with a time of 04:37:44 hours, following them were Airat Mardeev and Dmitri Svistunov with a time of 04:42:01 hours and third fastest to finish was team Maz Sportauto with Siarhei Viazovich and Pavel Haranin and a time of 04:44:14 hours.
Finishing first in stage two, Dmitri Sotnikov said,” It was a rather long stage, but the second part was really fast. The beginning part was complicated because there were the first dunes. We needed just a few of them to feel more comfortable, and after that, we tried to reach our ideal pace. The navigation was complicated, but we tried to pay attention to the right directions and check the roads for any traps, but our tactics were good for today and we are happy to finish”
At the end of stage two, team Kamaz with Dmitri Sotnikov and Ruslaam Akhmadeev lead the chart in general rankings as well. Let us see if they can retain their winning spree in stage three also, that is a 629km stage around Wadi Al-Dawasir.
