Formula Bharat 2027 is here, bringing new changes for young engineers in India. With a new category, they aim for the students to build the cars of tomorrow, which includes driverless ones. With various sponsorship programs, they hope to strengthen their engagement and create a better ecosystem with the teams.
Formula Bharat Driverless Cup
The highlight for 2027? A fresh Driverless Cup that pushes teams into self-driving tech. Students will need skills in AI, sensors, and smart controls to make cars navigate on their own. It's a game-changer, prepping students for the autonomous vehicles coming soon. Registrations kicked off on April 1, 2026, and teams from all over India are signing up fast. Over 30,000 students have joined Formula Bharat in the last 10 years, backed by big sponsors like MathWorks and DigiKey. Head to formulabharat.com to register and be part of it.
Renita Dsouza, the chairperson of Formula Bharat, says “It's about giving students a world-class playground to shine. Sponsors love it too, MathWorks helps with simulations, and DigiKey gave away NUCLEO boards to top teams like NIT Calicut. This mix of learning and racing is building India's next engineering stars”.

Last year's event was super competitive, with teams not just racing cars but creating full engineering teams. Camber Racing from SRM Institute took the top spot in combustion vehicles, while Veloce Racing Electric from Vishwakarma Institute won in electric. These wins show how Indian students are matching global standards.
