Porsche introduces their 2026 Formula E GEN4 race car
Porsche Motorsport has taken the wraps off its latest Formula E car, the 975 RSE
As the teams await the 2026-27 Formula E season, Porsche proudly presents the 975 RSE, the name celebrating Porsche Motorsport’s 75th anniversary. As far as performance goes, the upcoming season looks rather promising for the team.

Although Formula E’s GEN4 regulations draw striking visual similarity to Formula 1 cars, the 975 RSE makes the difference in what it delivers. It will have a whopping maximum of 600 kW (804bhp), clocking a top speed at 335kmph. This is over a 71 per cent increase in peak power compared to its GEN3 challenger, the 99X. The acceleration will be able to deliver 0 to 100 kmh in just 1.8 seconds. Porsche also boasts a 97 per cent power efficiency over the 99X despite the massive increase in downforce beginning the 2026 Formula E season.
Although Porsche won the manufacturer’s championship last season, along with their driver Pascal Wehrlein winning the driver’s title, this season could be a test for the team considering the new regulations. However, their in-house built software remains a massive advantage. As per their claims, it is loaded with 1.5 million lines of code, delivering the maximum power in the car when the drivers need it. With the concept phase of the Porsche 975 RSE beginning back in 2024, along with the simulator testing, Porsche was able to deliver a car with a usable battery capacity of 51.25 kWh, and the energy recuperation goes all the way up to 700 kW.

Since Formula E’s inception in 2014, many have claimed that the cars simply don’t have enough power and speed to compete with the likes of even Formula 2, let alone F1. While the FIA kept increasing the total power output across generations, the GEN4 has seen the biggest leap in the championship’s history. While the GEN3 only had a maximum of 350kW (470bhp), the GEN4 is set to deliver 600kW (804bhp). This power increase has also increased the top speed to 335kmph – 15kmph higher than the GEN3 car.
With these new regulations soon to kick in this December, Porsche looks prepared to take on the legacy they have formed in the sport over the years. Ultimately, the fans will be able to witness the power of the 975 RSE in December, when the season begins.
