Royal Enfield Motorsports wrapped up the first round of the 2026 Continental GT Cup, presented by JK Tyre, at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore. This marked the sixth year of the championship, establishing a strong grassroots platform for future racers. There were a few changes in the overall format and categories beginning this year – the Amateurs and Professionals raced on completely separate grids and platforms, with the latter using the GT-R750 platform and the Amateurs using the GT-R650 platform. Here’s a look at the racing action
RE Continental GT Cup Amateurs category
Kabir Sahoch had the most dominant performance amongst all riders in the Amateur category as he went on to clinch victories in all three races held over the weekend. In Race 1, he was followed by Saurav Dey in second place and Brandon Dsouza in third. In Race 2, Kabir Sahoch took the top step of the podium, with Saurav Dey in second place and Vaibhav Rao in third. While Kabir Sahoch continued his winning streak in Race 3, it was Harish Yodhin who finished in second, and Prashaant C in third in the GT-R650.
RE Continental GT Cup Professionals category
Despite 15 different riders in the Professionals category, the same trio kept finishing on the podium throughout the weekend. Newcomer Senthil Kumar, much like Kabir Sahoch in the Amateurs, swept the weekend with consecutive wins in all three races. Allwin Xavier followed Senthil Kumar in second place in Race 1, with Anish D Shetty completing the podium. Race 2 saw Senthil Kumar once again winning, but this time with Anish D Shetty in second place, and Allwin Xavier in third.
Race 3, meanwhile, had the same result. Senthil Kumar won another dominant victory, followed by Anish D Shetty in second, and Allwin Xavier in third place.
This marked the end of Round 1 of the 2026 Continental GT Cup, presented by JK Tyre. Round 2 will take place at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore in October 2026.
