Skoda Motorsport launches eSports series offering virtual competition between fans and rally aces
Fancy competing on equal terms against other like-minded enthusiasts and even professional rally drivers? The new Skoda Motorsport eChallenge offers exactly this! Enthusiasts can choose to go up against each other and even against rally aces from behind the virtual wheel of a Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo.
The game
DiRT Rally 2.0, the online game on which the competition is set to take place, has been created by Codemasters, who are also the creator for the official F1 video game. The DiRT Rally 2.0 edition is the 13th title of the series which is a successor to the Colin McRae Rally video game series, a game created with inputs from the legendary and unforgotten Scottish FIA World Rally Champion from 1995.
The arena
As mentioned, participants will compete behind the wheel of a virtual Skoda Fabia Rally2 evo against each other as well as against professional drivers. including Pontus Tidemand, FIA WRC2 Champion from 2017, European Rally Champion Chris Ingram, Slovakian Rally Champion Martin Koci and rising star Oliver Solberg
Besides these, Skoda’s e-game ambassador Petr Semerád, one of the most experienced Czech competitors in the virtual world of DiRT Rally 2.0, will be one of their toughest opponents. And, in the true spirit of competition, not only will the Skoda Motorsport eChallenge winners receive attractive prices, but the individual results of each participant will also be registered in a ranking system. A video covering the course of the virtual rally and telling Skoda Motorsport ambassador’s impression will be produced and published after each event.
The Skoda Motorsport eChallenge kicks off on April 22, with the virtual Rally Argentina, the online event for which will be open for five days to all registered DiRT game players around the world via this link and selecting the club name Skoda eChallenge.
