2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo bookings commence

Third gen Porsche Cayenne Turbo

Keeping in mind our review of the Porsche Cayenne E-Hybrid for the environment-friendly people, we’ve also got news to spare for the ‘speed’ & ‘track’ aficionados. The third gen of the Cayenne, the 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo’s bookings have commenced and the SUV is expected to hit the showrooms by June 2018. Contrary to its previous gen, which carried the 4.8-litre, V8 engine that churned out 513bhp and 720Nm of peak twist, you now get a down-sized 4.0-litre, V8 motor that produces 542.5bhp and 770Nm of peak twist. The increased figures are a major result of the twin turbochargers fitted close to the cylinder head inside the cylinder in a “central turbo layout”. The shorter exhaust branches and turbo layout are engineered and positioned in the V8 in a way to improve power delivery.

The 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo gets an aluminium and steel chassis that helps the weight to keep in check. The V8 bi-turbo with those startling numbers and eight-speed transmission, spurs the Cayenne from 0-100kmph in just 4.1 seconds to a top speed of 286kmph surpassing the previous Cayenne Turbo S.  There’s also an optional Sports Chrono package which enables the car sprint from naught to 100kmph in 3.9 seconds.

The SUV also packs some subtle yet phenomenal tech features. Devised from the flagship 911, the Cayenne Turbo now has rear-axle steering that gives stability at high speeds and easy maneuverability at low speeds. To complement its heavy weight, ride height and the power, the Cayenne Turbo also possesses an electric active roll stabilisation system and a three-chamber air suspension system (as standard) to contain body roll and tackle bad roads and keep the vehicle balanced. With an all-new adaptive roof spoiler – first for an SUV – the downforce is increased on the rear axle to provide stability and also aids in braking.

Pavan Shetty, director, Porsche India on the Cayenne Turbo bookings

On the bookings of the 2018 Porsche Cayenne Turbo, Pavan Shetty, director, Porsche India said, “The new Cayenne Turbo represents the start of an exciting introduction phase for us, with the Cayenne and Cayenne E-Hybrid also set to arrive in showrooms later this year. The Cayenne has been one of our most popular models to-date and I am sure that the third generation, which offers greater versatility and more performance than ever before will continue the success story, starting with the Turbo derivative. It is a highly anticipated model and as such we are delighted to offer customers the opportunity to order the latest generation of Porsche’s flagship SUV in India.”
