2021 BMW R nineT range unveiled

The new R nineT range features subtle cosmetic updates along with minor technical upgrades as well

Back in 2013, BMW Motorrad launched the R nineT model that was a roadster with a combination of classic design and modern technology. For 2021, BMW has updated the R nineT lineup with certain technical updates and attractive colour schemes. Even the Dakar livery on the R nineT Urban GS has been added to the lineup which makes it more exciting.

The new range of R nineT models features the same boxer engine that has received some technical updates making it Euro-5 compliant. The end result is a loss of 1.5bhp taking the output to 107bhp and 116Nm of torque. The engine now gets newly designed throttle valve parts and cylinder head covers that give a much better aesthetic appeal to the bike. Also, the twin-cylinders have been equipped with a turbulence system that is responsible for better and cleaner combustion with an increase in torque.

The standard variants in the R nineT lineup get a circular instrument cluster with newly designed dials and a BMW logo. The USB charging socket is standard on all the models.

The new R nineT models come equipped with ABS Pro in combination with Dynamic brake Control (DBC) and new shock absorbers with travel-dependent damping. As a standard feature, all the bikes now get Rain and Road riding modes.

Additional riding modes on offer are ‘Dyna’ on the R nineT and R nineT Pure, ‘Dirt’ mode on the R nineT Scrambler and a new Individual option for the R nineT Urban G/S.

BMW is also celebrating the 40th anniversary of the GS. To commemorate the event, it has also launched a special edition of the GS variant in black and yellow colour scheme to celebrate. There’s also the Option 719 which allows you to customise the whole motorcycle as per your wish.

There’s no word on the launch of the BS6-compliant R nineT in India as of yet. Considering the hefty price tag, we don’t expect BMW to bring it to India so soon either.
