The 2023 Tata Safari costs Rs 70,000 more than the 2023 Harrier and scores a 5-star Global NCAP crash rating

Tata Motors has launched the 2023 Safari at Rs 16.19 lakh. The 2023 Tata Safari, like the Harrier facelift, has received exterior and interior updates, as well as the addition of new features, while its mechanical aspects remain unchanged.

2023 Tata Safari exteriors

While the overall shape and proportions of the 2023 Tata Safari remain unchanged, it has received modern updates at every turn. However, it is very similar to the 2023 Harrier. It has a connected DRL setup, a more streamlined grille, vertically oriented LED headlights, and a restyled bumper and skid plate up front. The side profile is largely unchanged, but new 19-inch alloy wheels and ‘Safari’ badging on the front doors have been added. The rear design is similar to the front, with connected tail lights, a revised boot lip, and a bumper, as well as an enlarged Safari logo. Tata has also introduced three new colour options: Cosmic Gold, Supernova Copper, and Lunar Slate.

2023 Tata Safari interiors

Except for a different finish on the inserts, the interior of the 2023 Tata Safari is identical to that of the 2023 Harrier. The 12.3-inch central infotainment touchscreen is now a separate unit. The Safari, unlike the Harrier, has cooled seats in the second row. Other interior changes include the Nexon's new touch-based HVAC control panel, a redesigned four-spoke steering wheel with a backlit Tata logo, and a 10.25-inch customizable digital instrument cluster with navigation. The centre console has been updated with a new rotary dial for the drive mode selector with a digital display.

2023 Tata Safari powertrain

The 2023 Tata Safari retains the same 2-litre diesel engine, which produces 167bhp and 350Nm of torque. It has a 6-speed manual transmission and a 6-speed automatic transmission, with paddle shifters available for added convenience in the automatic variants.

2023 Tata Safari features

With this facelift, the 2023 Tata Safari gains a 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a 10.25-inch digital driver's display, multi-colour ambient lighting, dual-zone climate control with a touch-based AC panel, a premium 10-speaker JBL sound system, and a powered tailgate. A wireless phone charger, panoramic sunroof, and ventilated front seats (in the second row for 6-seater variants) have been retained, with the top-spec offering a 6-way power-adjustable driver's seat with a memory function. In terms of safety, the Safari now has up to seven airbags and an upgraded Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) suite that includes adaptive cruise control. ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), a 360-degree camera, lane departure warning, blind spot detection, and auto emergency braking are among the additional safety features.

2023 Tata Safari prices

Prices of the 2023 Tata Safari start at Rs 16.19 lakh and go all the way up to Rs 25.49 lakh. The facelifted Safari is thus Rs 44,000 more expensive than the base variant of the pre-facelift model. Bookings are open at a token amount of Rs 25,000. The Tata Safari facelift competes with the likes of the Mahindra XUV700, MG Hector Plus, and the Hyundai Alcazar.
