The sixth generation of the Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB is longer and wider than its predecessor

Mercedes-Benz has unveiled the sixth-generation E-Class LWB sedan, which will be available in India in the second half of 2024. The 'E-Class L,' an extended version of the E-Class sedan, emphasises the integration of artificial intelligence and cutting-edge technology to improve passenger comfort.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB dimensions

The new E-Class LWB has a longer wheelbase than its predecessor, measuring 3094mm, which is 15mm longer. The car's overall dimensions are 5092mm in length, 1880mm in width, and 1493mm in height, making it 18mm longer and 20mm wider than the previous model. The vehicle is based on an updated version of Mercedes' MRA architecture, with design cues from the EQ electric range.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB configurations

The LWB model, like the standard E-Class, is available in both standard and AMG Line configurations for the Chinese market. The AMG Line model distinguishes itself with a redesigned grille, sportier alloy wheels, and a distinct front bumper. It also has illuminated grille surrounds and distinctive emblems.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB features

The MBUX Superscreen, which consists of three screens under a single contoured glass panel on the dashboard, is found inside the E-Class LWB. A 14.4-inch central display, a 12.2-inch digital instrument display, and another 14.4-inch screen facing the front passenger are among the screens.

The third-generation MBUX operating system in the car uses artificial intelligence to automate comfort-related functions and is powered by Qualcomm's automotive-grade 8295 chipset.

The rear seat is the standout feature of the E-Class LWB, providing more legroom for passengers. The powered outer seats can recline by up to 37-degrees and have an electrically extendable leg rest. The rear seats are illuminated with ambient lighting and have 'neck heating' headrests. There is also a 'Boss' button that allows the rear seat passenger to slide and fold the front passenger seat, making more space in the back. A spacious centre armrest houses a wireless charging pad for two phones.

2024 Mercedes-Benz E-Class LWB powertrain options

The E-Class LWB is initially available in China with a six-cylinder engine, with additional engine options expected later. Mercedes-Benz is expected to offer four-cylinder petrol and diesel engines in India, in addition to the six-cylinder diesel E350 d. The vehicle has air suspension and a rear-wheel-steering system that can turn the rear wheels by up to 4.5 degrees, improving manoeuvrability at low speeds and increasing stability at high speeds. The new E-Class LWB will be launched in India in the second half of 2024.
