2024 Volkswagen Tiguan unveiled, gets a new platform, updated styling and powertrain
Volkswagen has unveiled the 2024 Tiguan globally, with the model set to arrive in India in 2024. The SUV's third generation receives a new design, new features, updated engine options, and much more. It is now underpinned by the MQB-evo platform, which also underpins SUVs like the Skoda Kodaiq and Audi Q3.
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan exteriors
Based on the MQB-evo platform, the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan has been completely redesigned to appear curvier than the current boxy SUV on the market. At the front, it features flat HD Matrix LED headlights that merge with the front grille. Volkswagen claims that these headlights are directly derived from the Touareg. There are light bars on the front and rear ends. Radiator grille openings on the bumper's outer sides have reduced the drag coefficient from 0.38Cd to 0.28Cd. The tail light cluster is integrated into a black panel that runs across the back of the tailgate. The new Tiguan is available with 20-inch wheels. The SUV is now 4539mm long, 1839mm wide, 1665mm tall, and has a wheelbase of 2679mm, which is 30mm longer than the previous model. It now has 652 litres of boot space (32 litres more).
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan interiors and features
The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan's interiors have also been completely redesigned. The cockpit-style dashboard now includes VW's latest MIB4 infotainment system with a 15-inch display. VW claims the user interface is more intuitive because the volume slider and temperature controls are backlit. A heads-up display is also available, as is a rotary driving switch with an OLED display. This new rotary control, which comes with its own mini screen, allows you to change the driving profile, radio volume, and background lighting colours. Heating, ventilation, and massaging functions are available in the front two seats. The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan also features a column-mounted gear lever to save space in the centre console. Among the standard safety features are adaptive cruise control, hill start assist, park distance control, and lane keep/change assist.
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan powertrain
The MQB-evo platform, on which the 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan is based, supports a wide range of powertrain options. The SUV is now available with turbo diesel engines (TDI), turbo petrol engines (TSI), mild hybrid turbo petrol engines (eTSI), and a new plug-in hybrid system (eHybrid) paired with a DSG automatic transmission. The plug-in hybrid powertrain comes with a 100km electric range and fast DC charging.
2024 Volkswagen Tiguan pricing and India launch
The global model's price has not yet been disclosed, but VW has stated that the European launch will begin in the first quarter of 2024. The new Tiguan will also be available in India later in 2024.
