Aprilia has finally taken the wraps off the production-spec Tuono 660. The company took to their international website to reveal the details and changes over its fully-faired sibling — the RS 660. And as we already know, the Tuono 660 along with the RS 660 will make its way to Indian shores soon. The Tuono 660 will be available in three finishes that Aprilia dubs Concept Black, Iridium Grey and Acid Gold.

Design

The Tuono 660 like the flagship V4 model, gets the same treatment lending it the naked bike stance. The Tuono 660 still gets the double fairing as seen on the RS 660 but it has been revised to expose more of the engine and the frame. The front-end of the bike includes the same triple headlight unit as found on the RS 660 but the cowl is shorter with a much smaller windscreen.

Engine

The Tuono 660 gets the same 659cc parallel-twin with the 270° crankpin design. However, the sprocketing is different to improve the low and mid-range grunt. The engine now puts out 94bhp of power (5bhp less than RS 660) while the torque figure hasn’t been revealed as of yet.

Chassis

The Tuono 660 uses the same aluminum dual beam frame with the engine as a load-bearing member. But it gets revised ergonomics in form of a new handlebar that replaces the clip-ons and a taller saddle for a more relaxed and upright riding position. The geometry has been altered too, to incorporate the changes. The bike gets radially mounted Brembo four-pot callipers on 320mm discs up front and a two-pot Brembo caliper on a 220mm disc at the rear. Suspension duties are handled by adjustable Kayabas at both ends.

Electronics

As with almost everything else on the bike the Tuono 660 shares its electronics package with the RS 660. The APRC electronics suite is mated to a six-axis IMU and a ride-by-wire throttle system that endows the bike with five riding modes, engine braking control, traction control, cornering ABS, engine braking wheelie control, launch control, cruise control, etc.

Pricing and availability

The Tuono 660 is expected to launch in international markets by the end of the first quarter of 2021. But we can expect Aprilia to bring the Tuono 660 and the RS 660 to India together via CBU, before June. We expect it to be priced in the range of Rs 10 to 12 lakh, ex-showroom.
