Maruti Suzuki to unveil FUTURO-e electric car concept at Auto Expo 2020

The Maruti Suzuki FUTURO-e is a coupé-styled electric concept drawing design inspiration from elements in the nature

We’re expecting to see a slew of electric cars at the upcoming Auto Expo from homegrown manufacturers as well as global brands. While we have already driven the e-SUVs from MG, Tata and Hyundai, country’s largest carmaker Maruti Suzuki is yet to enter this space. We’re expecting Maruti Suzuki to unveil the WagonR electric at the Auto Expo and the company has officially confirmed that they will also showcase their new electric concept.

The FUTURO-e coupé-styled electric concept has been designed and conceptualised in India by Maruti Suzuki. The electric concept is a design study for next generation mobility solutions and its primary target audience would be young buyers who’re on a lookout for cars with futuristic designs. The FUTURO-e concept gets a distinctive coupé-styled silhouette with SUV-like proportions drawing design inspiration from geo-organic structural forms occurring in nature.

Introducing Maruti Suzuki’s Concept FUTURO-e, CV Raman, Senior Executive Director (Engineering), MSIL said, “Concept FUTURO-e resonates Maruti Suzuki’s commitment to create exciting designs for next generation. Offering a sneak peek into future of design, Concept FUTURO-e represents Maruti Suzuki’s vision for the Indian automobile market. Pegged as an Indian car with global sensibilities, Concept FUTURO-e takes into consideration the evolving desires of country’s aspirational youth. Its beauty is evident from its simplicity and magnificent detailing. The design of Concept FUTURO-e is a fascinating fusion of a coupé with a SUV. It is a significant departure from the mainstream SUV architecture and is expected to raise the design bar of Utility Vehicles in India.”
