Bajaj Chetak EV scooter updated for 2024

The latest iteration of the Bajaj Chetak EV scooter gets a host of new features including a TFT display and Bluetooth connectivity

The 2024 Bajaj Chetak remains unchanged on the outside, but gets mechanical changes and new features including a full-colour TFT display, turn-by-turn navigation support, music and phone call control, and more. The Chetak can be bought with the optional TecPac, which provides benefits such as enhanced smartphone app connectivity and riding modes. The 2024 Chetak starts at Rs 1.15 lakh for the ‘Urbane’ and Rs 1.35 lakh for the ‘Premium’ variant.

Battery and performance

The Chetak is powered by a 3.2kWh lithium-ion battery that drives the rear wheel through a BLDC motor. Top speed is 73kmph with an ARAI-certified maximum range of 127km. The Chetak Premium trim has an 800W onboard charger that provides 15.6km of range within 30 minutes of charging. With the optional TecPac, the total charge time comes out to 4 hours and 30 minutes.

Chassis and body

The 2024 Bajaj Chetak boasts a solid metal unibody. New for 2024 is a slightly larger boot, the exact dimensions of which have not been revealed yet. The body features IP67-rated water resistance to keep the mechanicals protected from the elements. Exact weight and dimensions figures are unavailable as of now.

Technology and convenience

The Chetak gets self-cancelling indicators, with the rear indicators being sequential. Also included are a steering lock, seat switches, and helmet box lamp. The 2024 Chetak can be optioned with the newly-introduced TecPac. It gets a new full-colour 5” TFT display which can be customised to the rider’s liking. The Chetak features TBT navigation, music control (play, pause, and change track), and call alerts. The TecPac also features hill hold mode, which prevents the scooter from rolling backwards on an incline. The Chetak Premium trim also gets a reverse mode. The TecPac also offers expanded functionality in the Chetak app.

Price and rivals

The Chetak starts at Rs 1.15 lakh ex-showroom for the base ‘Urbane’ trim, with the ‘Premium’ trim starting at Rs 1.35 lakh ex-showroom. The Chetak will go up against the likes of the TVS iQube and the Ather 450S and 450X.
