BMW has launched the F 450 GS at ₹4.7 lakh!
The BMW F 450 GS is a twin-cylinder outlier hoping to shake the segment
The F 450 GS will be available in three variants- Base, Exclusive and GS TrophyAfter 4 years of being teased with spy shots, BMW has finally launched the BMW F 450 GS. The F 450 GS brings with it the refinement of a twin-cylinder engine, currently lacking in this segment. It aims to tackle both long-distance adventure riding and city riding. It comes in three variants: Base, Exclusive and GS trophy. The BMW will go against the KTM 390 Adventure S, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 and the Triumph Scrambler 400 XC.
BMW F 450 GS Design and Styling
The BMW F 450 GS follows the GS design pedigree with a tall stance, upright riding posture and a purposeful ADV-style. All of this, however, comes in a smaller and lighter package as compared to its bigger siblings - the F 850 GS and the F 1250 GS.
The bodywork is slim and compact, which should aid in navigating through traffic and tight gaps within the city. The front has the distinctive GS beak and it also features R 1300 GS-inspired DRLS. The F 450 GS doesn't just look compact, but it is also quite light, weighing in at 17kg. In fact, it is lighter than all of its competitors, such as the KTM 390 Adventure S, which comes in at around 182kg, the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450 at 196kg and the Triumph Scrambler 400 X at 179kg.
With a seat height of 845mm, it stands relatively tall as compared to the Himalayan 450 at 825mm and the Adventure 390 S at 830mm. It comes with a steel tube frame and sub-frame. It has USD forks in the front and a monoshock in the rear, along with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels.

BMW F 450 GS Variants and Features
The base model F 450 GS gets three riding modes – Rain, Road and Enduro. Along with this, there is a 6.5-inch TFT display, heated grips, adjustable levers, traction control and engine drag torque control.
Over the base variant, the Exclusive variant gets an additional riding mode – Enduro Pro, off-road footpegs, engine guard, hand guards, Shift assistant Pro and a windshield. This variant is available only in the Cosmic Black colour.
The top-end variant, the GS Trophy, additionally has an Easy Ride clutch, sport suspension, aluminium engine guard, white handguards, tinted windshield and is available in BMW’s tricolour paint scheme.
BMW F 450 GS Powertrain
The BMW is powered by a 420cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine. Power figures stand at 46.9bhp at 8750rpm and 43Nm of torque at 6750rpm. A key highlight is the 135-degree crank, which is unique in this segment.
The bike also gets Engine Drag Traction Control (ERC), which helps manage rear wheel slip during aggressive downshifts, improving stability. Compared to its single-cylinder rivals like the Himalayan 450, 390 Adventure S and the Scrambler 400 XC, the F 450 GS should offer better refinement owing to its twin-cylinder nature.
