Hornet 2.0 gets a bored-out motor from the CB Hornet 160 R that it replaces and a new frame as well

Honda has launched the Hornet 2.0 at Rs 1.26 lakh, ex-showroom Gurugram. The updated Hornet now features a 184cc fuel-injected engine, which is a bored-out version of the mill on the CB Hornet 160 R that it replaces. The powerplant will continue to work with a five-speed gearbox. Peak output is rated at 17bhp at 8500rpm and 16.1Nm of torque at 6000rpm. The previous 163cc motor had a stroke of 63.1mm while the bore was 57.3mm. The Hornet 2.0’s mill has a bore of 61mm (up by 4mm) and the stroke remains the same at 63.1mm.

The Hornet 2.0's diamond frame has been tweaked to incorporate the larger-displacement engine. It will also sport golden upside-down (USD) telescopic forks at the helm. The wheelbase is up by 8mm at 1355mm, as compared to the CB Hornet 160 R while the rear tyre now has a wider 140mm cross-section. Braking duties are handled by a 276mm rotor up front and a 220mm disc at the rear, with single-channel ABS.

The Hornet 2.0 will now feature an engine kill-switch and a negatively-lit digital instrument cluster along with an LED headlamp.

The Hornet 2.0 has its eyes set on the TVS Apache RTR 200 4V as its main rival. The RTR has a 200cc engine which pushes 20bhp and 16.8Nm of torque. It also boasts dual-channel ABS and smartphone connectivity through its SmartXonnect platform. As compared to the Apache RTR 200 4V, the Hornet 2.0 comes in at Rs 2,200 lower.
