Husqvarna joins the electric movement with the E-Pilen, Vektorr and Bltz concepts
The Husqvarna Vektorr and Blitz join the E-Pilen concept in the company’s E-Mobility Range
A couple of days ago, Husqvarna Motorcycles unveiled the E-Pilen concept to the world announcing its foray into the world of electric vehicles, or as the company likes to call it, the E-Mobility Range. Now, hot off the heels of the E-Pilen, Husqvarna has unveiled an electric scooter concept called the Vektorr and a stand-up scooter called the Bltz. The three concepts are Husqvarna’s way of showing commitment to the electric future.
The Husqvarna E-Pilen is the very first electric vehicle conceived by the Swedish company. The E-Pilen will be powered by an 8 kW motor that will be good for a claimed range of 100km. The battery system on the E-Pilen is modular in design which will enable the user to swap batteries. This will help increase running time without having to take long stops for charging the battery. In terms of design, the E-Pilen is a naked bike that takes heavy inspiration from the Svartpilen and Vitpilen range of motorcycles. It gets the iconic circular headlamp design but a much more futuristic looking implementation of it. Though still unclear, it seems to have borrowed the majority of its chassis (suspension, brakes, frame) from the IC-engined motorcycles.
Husqvarna Vektorr and Bltz
The Vektorr is the latest electric vehicle unveiled by Husqvarna. It is a scooter that is most likely to share the majority of its underpinnings with Bajaj’s Chetak EV. Husqvarna claims that the motor on the Vektorr will be able to propel it to a top speed of 45kmph and give it a range of 95km. In terms of design, the Vektorr is a funky take on traditional scooter design. It also gets the big round LED headlight in true Husqvarna fashion. Apart from this the company also showcased a stand-up style electric scooter called the Bltz for those shorter urban commutes.
All the three concepts are still in prototype stage and Husqvarna hasn’t put out a definite timeline for the launch of the three, although, it’s fair to assume we can see more developments in the coming year or two. And, as to whether or not they will launch in India remains to be seen. But we definitely do have the market for them.
