Kawasaki has a new way into the Z family. The all-new Z300 has been launched in India at ₹3.24 lakh ex-showroom, with a 296 cc parallel twin, a triple LED headlight face and a full LCD panel, and Kawasaki claims India is the first market in the world to get it. It is aimed at the rider who wants the Z look and attitude without starting on a bigger bike, and here is a closer look at the sport naked.

The Kawasaki Z300 pairs its sharp Sugomi styling with a compact, muscular silhouette, an upright riding position and a 785mm seat height.

Kawasaki Z300 design and ergonomics

You notice the face of the Kawasaki Z300 first. Three LED headlights sit under a sharp cowl, with the two upper units working as low beams and the lower one as the high beam. The tank extensions flare outward, and the Z-shaped shrouds finish the compact, muscular look that Kawasaki calls Sugomi styling. The handlebar is wide and sits 50mm higher than on the previous model; the seat height is 785mm, while the kerb weight is 175kg. A new full LCD panel shows speed and rpm on a bar tachometer, and an ECO mark lights up when you are riding economically. A USB Type-C outlet is an optional extra. The Z300 comes in Candy Lime Green and Metallic Carbon Grey.

Kawasaki Z300 chassis and suspension

The steel-tube diamond frame comes from the Ninja 300, with rubber engine mounts at the front. A 37mm telescopic fork does the work up front, and a bottom link Uni Trak shock with adjustable preload sits at the rear. The petal discs for the brakes measure 290mm at the front and 220mm at the rear, and ABS is standard. The MRF tyres are a 110/70 at the front and a 140/70 at the rear, both on 17-inch wheels, and ground clearance is 140 mm

At the heart of the Kawasaki Z300 is a 296cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine producing 39.5bhp and 26.3Nm, paired with a six-speed gearbox and an assist and slipper clutch.

Kawasaki Z300 engine and performance

The Z300 runs a 296 cc liquid-cooled parallel twin with eight valves, making 39.5bhp at 11,000 rpm and 26.3Nm of torque at 10,000 rpm. Kawasaki claims that the power is smooth low down and picks up properly higher in the rev range. The six-speed gearbox has an assist and slipper clutch, which lightens the lever and keeps the rear wheel settled on downshifts.

Kawasaki Z300 pricing and availability

Prices for the Kawasaki Z300 start from ₹3.24 lakh ex-showroom, and deliveries for the motorcycle start from October 19 through Kawasaki dealerships.
