Kawasaki Z650RS launched at ₹7.83 lakh
The 2027 Z650RS has the same underpinnings as the outgoing model, with new colourways on offer
Kawasaki has launched the 2027 Kawasaki Z650RS, the brand’s interpretation of what a retro naked sport can be. Bookings for the Z650RS are now open, with pricing starting from ₹7.83 lakh (ex-showroom).
Kawasaki Z650RS ergonomics and design
As is with all of Kawasaki’s Z series bikes, their styling is inspired by the Japanese philosophy of ‘Sugomi ’, which roughly translates to the intense aura of immense power, inspiring awe, respect, and fear that emanates from a person or an object. The Z650RS is no different, with its 70s-inspired styling showcased through the round LED headlights and dual-dial instrument cluster.
The bike features a high-set handlebar which, combined with the approachable seat height of 800mm, creates an upright seating position. The bike sits on 17-inch cast wheels with flat spokes similar to those on the Kawasaki Z900RS.
Kawasaki Z650RS engine and chassis
The Kawasaki Z650RS remains mechanically unchanged compared to the outgoing model and is powered by a 649cc liquid-cooled parallel twin engine which produces 67bhp and 64Nm of torque. This is the same engine as the one in the Versys 650 and Vulcan S, with the same 6-speed gearbox with an assist and slipper clutch.
The Z650RS comes standard with Kawasaki’s multi-step traction control system and dual-channel ABS. The bike sits on telescopic front forks and horizontal back-link rear suspension with 125mm of travel at the front and 130mm at the rear. The bike features a lightweight trellis frame, with a wheelbase of 1405mm and a ground clearance of 125mm. The bike has a kerb weight of 192kg.

The 2027 Kawasaki Z650RS comes in at ₹7.83 lakh (ex-showroom), the same as the outgoing model. The Z650RS faces rivals like the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and the Triumph Trident 660. The Interceptor 650 undercuts its price by more than half, coming in at ₹3.44 lakh (ex-showroom); the Triumph Trident 660 comes in a bit higher with an ex-showroom price of ₹8.99 lakh.
