Ola unveils four new concept motorcycles, promises to go on sale next year

The motorcycles include the Ola Diamondhead, Roadster, Cruiser and Adventure

Ola, following the range of S1 scooters, has unveiled four concept motorcycles. Each motorcycle is a different style — one is a super sport, one is a cruiser, and they also showcased an ADV and a street naked. As expected from Ola, these are fully electric and they share a platform where the battery is a stressed member, from which the steering head, swingarm and rear subframe is mounted. None of these motorcycles has hub motors, but have motors mounted close to the battery and have a belt / chain drive. No specs have been revealed yet.

Ola Diamondhead

The most outlandish of the lot is the Ola Diamondhead — an interpretation of the supersport concept. The motorcycle features prominent Cybertruck inspired styling with a lightbar and angular panels. Being a supersport, it gets a committed rider’s triangle with clip on handlebars and rear set pegs. These pegs actually have multiple settings to tweak the rider’s triangle on the go. It also has an interesting front suspension concept, with hub centre steering similar to what Bimota does with its motorcycles. It gets twin discs up front, and a single at the rear and this is the only motorcycle of the lot to get belt drive.

Ola Cruiser

This is Ola’s take on the cruiser space — it gets the same platform but here, you get USD forks up front and a mono shock at the rear. The rider’s triangle is cruiser-like with forward set pegs, a laid back seat and sweep back handlebar. The forks are fairly raked out as well, and cruiser elements like the fat rear tyre have been incorporated. This motorcycle, like a few of the others on sale, has both brake levers on the ‘bars and nothing at the feet. Unlike the Diamondhead, the Cruiser gets chain drive.

Ola Adventure

Ola’s take on the ADV is a neat looking one. Keeping with its design language, you get an angular front end, a nice DRL signature and an upright windscreen. Being an ADV, you get long travel suspension, spoked wheels and a 19-inch front wheel. The seat is fairly flat and you get a reasonable amount of space for luggage storage, with pannier racks on the tail section. This is certainly one of the nicest of the four concepts, and should be really interesting when it goes in to production.

Ola Roadster

Ola’s street naked is called the Roadster and this was the most complete of the four motorcycles. In fact, the concept displayed was a working prototype and rode on to the stage at the unveil event. Again, underpinned by the same platform, the roadster is the most diminutive of the lot here. It gets a neat design, and the cassis set up gets USD forks, ByBre brakes with a twin disc set up up front and a mono shock at the rear. The wheel sizes were 18-17 and it was running Michelin Road 6 rubber.

No details were revealed about these motorcycles, except for the fact that we can expect them to be the most powerful electric motorcycles in the country. Ola claims that production is said to begin next year. The motorcycles are certainly striking and to be fair, in different stages of completion — the Adventure and Roadster look closer to production than the other two. Now, we wait and watch to see what Ola can deliver to the streets!
