BMW F 450 GS at EICMA 2025
After much anticipation, BMW Motorrad has officially unveiled the production-ready BMW F 450 GS at EICMA 2025 in Milan. This new adventure bike, co-developed and manufactured by TVS in India, offers a perfect blend of power, style, and technology. Featuring a newly developed 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine delivering 47bhp and 43 Nm of torque. The F 450 GS comes with features like the easy ride clutch system, a quickshifter, lean-sensitive electronics, and a robust yet lightweight chassis. Available in four variants—Basic, Exclusive, Sport, and Trophy—this bike is set to cater to a wide range of riders looking for a capable and stylish adventure tourer.
BMW F 450 GS Engine
The BMW F 450 GS brings a fresh and exciting offering to the mid-capacity adventure motorcycle segment with a newly developed 420cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp at 8,750 rpm and 43 Nm of torque at 6,750 rpm. This engine features a unique 135-degree crankpin offset combined with a single balance shaft, which, BMW claims, will ensure smooth, characterful power delivery with minimal vibration, making it a standout in its class. The transmission includes a six-speed gearbox equipped with Shift Assistant Pro (from the Exclusive variant onward), allowing clutchless upshifts and downshifts for greater riding ease and sportiness. There also the Easy Ride Clutch system which eliminates the need for the rider to use the clutch altogether by essentially simulating the clutch being pulled in at idle revs and let out when throttle is applied. BMW claims that the system will work very naturally and will not feel very different from if you were to operate the clutch yourself (which you still can). This will be available as standard on the Trophy variant with it being an optional extra on other variants.
BMW F 450 GS Chassis
Chassis and suspension have been designed with adventure riding versatility in mind. The F 450 GS rides on a tubular steel frame paired with a hollow aluminum swingarm, offering both strength and lightweight agility. Upfront, there is a 43mm KYB upside-down fork with 180mm of travel, adjustable for preload, compression, and rebound damping on the higher variants, while the rear uses a KYB monoshock with preload and rebound adjustability. The wheel setup includes a 19-inch front and 17-inch rear, available in alloy or cross-spoked options to address different riding terrains. Braking duties are handled by a premium Brembo four-piston caliper with a large 310mm disc at the front and a ByBre single-piston caliper with a 240mm disc at the rear, supplemented by BMW Motorrad’s ABS Pro system, which enhances safety by allowing ABS-assisted braking even when leaning in corners. Seat height is set at 845mm which can be raised or lowered to 865mm or 830mm using accessory seat options. The best part is that the motorcycle tips the scales at only 178kg wet. Giving it amongst the best power-to-weight rations in the sub-500cc ADV class.
BMW F 450 GS Features
The F 450 GS is packed with modern rider aids and features to enhance both comfort and functionality. It offers multiple ride modes, including Rain, Road, Enduro, and an additional Enduro Pro mode from the Exclusive variant upwards, tailored to various on- and off-road conditions. Electronics include Dynamic Traction Control, Dynamic Brake Control, and engine drag torque control for optimized safety. The cockpit is centered around a large 6.5-inch full-color TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity, enabling smartphone integration for navigation, call/SMS alerts, and music control. Ergonomics have been carefully considered with adjustable hand levers, heated grips, and a specially designed riding triangle for comfort during long rides and technical terrain.
Overall, the BMW F 450 GS combines the brand’s GS heritage with cutting-edge technology, premium components, and practical features geared towards both urban commuters and adventure enthusiasts. It will launch in India sometime next year and we expect the ex-showroom pricing to be around the ₹5 lakh mark.
