TVS Apache RTR 160 4V facelift launched, prices start from Rs 1.15 lakh

TVS has silently introduced an upgrade to its Apache RTR 160 4V series with some additional equipment, new colours, and a Special Edition variant

It seems that TVS is on a launch spree and is very invested in keeping their existing lineup updated. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V series receives an upgrade which includes a new Special Edition variant, along with new features (some taken from the Apache RTR 200 4V) such as three riding modes, TVS SmartXonnect, adjustable clutch and brake levers, a gear shift indicator, radial tyres, a new headlamp, and new colours. Some of these features are limited to the top-end and Special Edition variant. The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V is available in four variants, including the Special Edition. Prices start from Rs 1.15 lakh to Rs 1.21 lakh (ex-showroom).

The Apache has always been one gorgeous looking bike, and TVS has rightfully decided not to fiddle around with what works extremely well. It does look a tad different from the front thanks to the new all-LED headlamp with a DRL placed in the centre. The 160 does bear a passing resemblance to the Apache RTR 200 4V until you notice the large seat in comparison to the split-seat setup of the 200. Colour options remain the same as before — red, blue, and white.

Meanwhile the Apache RTR 160 4V Special Edition will be exclusively offered in a Matte Black colour, along with red-coloured alloy wheels and a unique seat pattern with red inserts.

TVS Apache RTR 160 4V Powertrain and Chassis

The TVS Apache RTR 160 4V was already BS6 compliant, which means it remains unchanged in this regard and continues to be powered by the same 159.7cc oil-cooled four-valve engine. Paired to a five-speed gearbox, the Apache RTR 160 4V produces 17.3bhp at 9250rpm and 14Nm of torque at 7250rpm. It also continues to feature the double-cradle split synchro stiff frame, while also retaining the Showa rear monoshock suspension and the petal disc braking system. However, this update adds a new radial tyre at the rear.

This is where the party begins, because the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V adds some first-in-segment features. The instrument cluster is now backlit in white instead of orange. It displays all the necessary information and retains its previous functions while also adding a gear shift indicator and ride modes. The top variant of the TVS Apache RTR 160 4V now also gets TVS’ SmartXonnect system which enables riders to connect their smartphones via bluetooth and enable turn-by-turn navigation and calls/SMS alerts. Speaking of ride modes, it gets three on offer — Urban, Rain, and Sport, also seen on the bigger RTR 200 4V.

The adjustable clutch and brake levers are available only on the Apache RTR 160 4V Special Edition variant.
