Ultraviolette unveils the brand’s first performance electric bike, F77
While we still await the launch of Tork Motorcycles and Emflux’s performance electric bike, Ultraviolette Automotive, a Bengaluru-based start-up, has launched the much-awaited electric motorcycle, F77 today. The bike is available in three variants—Lightning, Shadow and Laser which will be priced between Rs 3 to Rs 3.25 lakh (on-road). The only electric motorcycle in the market currently is the Revolt RV 300 and RV 400.

The F77 is powered by an air-cooled, interior permanent magnet AC motor and is paired with a 4.5kWh modular battery that propels the bike from 0 to 60kmph in 2.9 seconds and 0-100kmph in an impressive 7.5 seconds. Unlike most of the EVs, the F77 ditches the belt-drive for a X-ring chain unit. The F77 packs instant torque of 90Nm and 33bhp, making it the fastest EV available in the country to date. The Ultraviolette bike gets three riding modes—Eco, Sport and Insane mode and is capable of achieving a top speed of 147kmph.
The F77 can go 130-150km with the three battery packs. Yes, the bike gets three slim battery packs, which take five hours to charge using the standard charger and a mere 1.5 hours using the optional DC fast charger. As per the company, the bike doesn’t require all the three batteries to run, but it will perform optimally if all the three battery packs are in use. Ultraviolette has equipped the battery with a plethora of electrical, mechanical, structural and thermal safety measures, which the company claims to be at par with aviation and aerospace standards.
The Ultraviolette F77 gets a 5-inch TFT display. The brand has left no stone unturned and equipped the bike with LTE connectivity and GPS positioning. This has opened doors for features like real-time tracking and even getting in a complete lock-down state. The bike also has Preventive Maintenance, a first for motorcycles, wherein the problems are identified from the collected data even before the rider can feel measurable degradation in performance.
The F77 also gets a 9DOF inertia measurement unit that monitors nine distinct types of motion-related data: three degrees of acceleration, magnetic orientation, and angular velocity. The bike also detects an accident and falls with the unit and gives the riders access to all the data with the diagnostic information via the brand’s iOS and Android apps.
The Ultraviolette F77 uses the battery pack as the stressed member and is cradled in a steel trellis frame with an aluminum head. Suspension duties are handled by USD forks at the front and a gas-charged preload-adjustable monoshock at the rear. Dropping the anchor is a 320mm disc at the front and a 230mm disc at the rear, aided by dual-channel ABS. With all these components, the F77 manages to tip the scales at just 158kg.
Ultraviolette will be offering accessories like wheel caps, home charging pod, crash guard, panniers, a different visor, and a new dashboard theme.
The bookings have already commenced on the company’s website and the deliveries are expected to begin in the third quarter of 2020, starting with Bengaluru. The company intends to expand nationally within the next year.
