Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid unveiled

The Yamaha Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid gets a small electric motor along with it’s 125cc Fi engine

Along with the launch of the all-new FZ-X, Yamaha has also unveiled the new Fascio 125 Fi Hybrid. As the Hybrid in the name suggests, the Fascino 125 Fi will get a small electric motor which Yamaha calls Smart Motor Generator (SMG). The technology will soon be available with the RayZR as well.

The SMG (Smart Motor Generator) is a small electric motor that will assist the 125cc Fi engine. It will work when the rider is starting from a stand still, or will give that little extra push when going uphill. The SMG also enables systems like silent start and automatic start and stop. How the system works is that when the rider starts from standstill, the SMG system will assist the engine to give a sight boost and will cut off within three seconds or when the preset rpm is achieved, whichever comes first. The hybrid system will be available on both the disc brake variant and the drum brake variant of the Fascino 125 Fi.

Also new for the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid is that the scooter now gets features like LED lighting on both ends, a fully digital instrument cluster, bluetooth connectivity and Unified Brake System (UBS), however these features are exclusive to the disc brake variant of the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid. The features that are common to both the disc and drum brake variant include side stand cut off switch, and an optional USB charger. In terms of the engine used, the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid continues to use the same BS6-compliant 125cc blue-core, single-cylinder, fuel-injected engine that is good for 8bhp at 6500rpm and 10.3Nm at 5000rpm.

Both variants of the Fascino 125 Fi Hybrid have gotten three new colour schemes each bringing the total available options to nine for the disc variant and seven for the drum variant. The new colours for the disc variant are called Vivid Red Special, Matt Black Special and Cool Blue Metallic while the colours for the drum brake variant are called Vivid Red,Yellow Cocktail and Cool Blue Metallic.

As aforementioned, the SMG system will be implemented on the RayZR as well and pricing and bookings for both will be available soon. With the addition of these new features we can expect the prices to go up over the BS6 variant by a small margin.
