Yezdi launches Roadster, Scrambler, and Adventure | Prices start from Rs 1.98 lakh

Yezdi makes a return to the Indian two-wheeler market with the introduction of three new models

The name Yezdi has come back to the two-wheeler market after a significant amount of time. The last Yezdi to be sold in India was way back in 1996. But the company has been revived with the fresh breath of the 21st century and now the brand has stepped back in the Indian market with three new models. These three models are built to suit different genres of customers while having the same heart that drives them. The models are aptly named as the Yezdi Roadster, Yezdi Scrambler and the Yezdi Adventure. The prices for the Yezdi line up begin from Rs 1.98 lakh and go all the way upto Rs 2.18 lakh. Bookings are open and deliveries will also begin immediately.

The Yezdi Adventure looks like the purpose it is built for. It shouts ‘off-roading’ right off the bat and with its minimal design and rugged build, it looks like it can take the beating as well

The Yezdi Adventure looks like the purpose it is built for. It shouts ‘off-roading’ right off the bat and with its minimal design and rugged build, it looks like it can take the beating as well. It has places for mounting your luggage at the back and mounts for jerry cans in the front, which also doubles up as protection for your Yezdi motorcycle. On the whole the motorcycle does look purpose-built and it has the right look and package to play the part. Only concern, it feels like the Yezdi Adventure has a lost brother in the two-wheeler industry.

The Adventure gets a LCD display console with all standard functionalities, including ABS mode and gear indicator. The Adventure model also gets the first of its kind tilt-adjust display for seated as well as riding on the pegs riding postures. Bluetooth connectivity and turn by turn navigation is standard on the Adventure model

The Yezdi Adventure has a dual cradle chassis with long travel telescopic front forks and rear monoshock with preload adjustment. The front and rear suspension have a travel of 200mm and 180mm respectively. This chassis sits on 21 inch front and 17 inch rear spoked wheels. The Yezdi Adventure also has the highest ground clearance of the three at 220mm. The tyres are also different on the Adventure as they are off-road oriented. It is also helped by the fact that the Adventure comes with three ABS modes : Road, Off-Road and Rain.

The Yezdi Adventure has the heart derived from a Jawa Perak block which is 334cc in capacity and gives an output of 29.7bhp at 8000rpm with 29.9Nm of torque. Even though the rest of the models do share the same engine, it has different power and torque figures due to their different state of tune for each bike.

The Yezdi Scrambler fits the definition of what a ‘scrambler’ is actually meant to do, which is to give the rider confidence and control both off and on the road.

The Yezdi Scrambler fits the definition of what a ‘scrambler’ is actually meant to do, which is to give the rider confidence and control both off and on the road. Its old-school LED headlights, upswept exhaust and ribbed seat puts functionality and looks in a good mix. Moreover, the minimalist design philosophy carries on through this motorcycle which helps it to look like one of those classic British motorcycles. It comes with spoke wheels which adds to the flavour and also allows the wheels to be functional when taken off road.

The Yezdi Scrambler also gets a dual cradle chassis and it rides on 19-inch at the front and 17-inch at the rear. They are connected to the chassis by telescopic front forks with 150mm of travel and a gas charged twin rear shock absorbers with preload adjustability, which offers 130mm of travel. The Scrambler also gets ground clearance measuring at a respectable 200mm. The brakes on the Scrambler remain the same as the other models but their calibrations vary.

The engine is the same capacity as the rest of the models but they have different power outputs. The engine in the Scrambler produces 28.7bhp and 28.2Nm of torque. The difference in the power outputs help it to perform in both on and off-road conditions.

The Yezdi Roadster is the road specific version of the Yezdi lineup. It gives out a proper neo-retro vibe with old school cruiser styling and modern elements like LED lights and an LCD instrument cluster.

The Yezdi Roadster is the road specific version of the Yezdi lineup. It gives out a proper neo-retro vibe with old school cruiser styling and modern elements like LED lights and an LCD instrument cluster. It gets fairly wide handlebars, hinting at its cruising credentials and with a split seat setup, it promises to be a comfortable highway cruiser. Moreover the passenger at the back also gets a backrest. The Roadster is available in two themes which are Dark and Chrome.

This model also gets the dual cradle chassis but has different suspension components. It gets telescopic front forks with 135mm of travel and a gas charged twin rear shock setup with preload adjustability, with a wheel travel of 100mm. The Roadster has the lowest ground clearance but still a respectable 175mm, amongst the three. The Roadster is the only Yezdi to sport alloy wheels which have the dimensions of 18-inch in the front and 17-inch at the rear. The brakes remain the same like its siblings but with different calibration.

Even though the Roadster shares the same engine as the rest of the bikes in the line-up, it has a different state of tune. The engine on this motorcycle produces 29.2bhp and 29Nm of torque. All the engines are mated to a six-speed gearbox.
