BMW unveils 2019 7 Series

BMW has updated the flagship luxury sedan, the 7 Series. The car gets a host of aesthetic and technical updates. The exterior now receives more pronounced features commanding road presence while the interiors continue to reflect the luxurious, feel-good ambience.

The German marquee has updated the powermill of the sedan. The V8 engine now produces 530bhp which is 80 more than the outgoing model. The diesel variants now come with up to four turbochargers and power ranging from 265bhp to 400bhp. The two low-powered variants, 730d and the 740d remain unchanged.  Also on offer is a plug-in hybrid with a six-cylinder petrol engine with an output of 349bhp and an increased electric range of 50-58km that propels the car from 0-10 in 5.1 seconds.

The car receives a host of technological updates as well. Adaptive suspension with two-axle air suspension is standard while the new camera-based chassis control system is also integrated into the system that adjusts the suspension for bumps, pothole or speed bumpers. The company has also worked to minimize vibration and enhance the sound insulation. The car also gets the latest version of the BMW Operating System following the league of new X5 and the 8 series.

Aesthetically, the car has now a 40 per cent bigger kidney grille and sits 500mm taller which reminds of the mammoth X7. With sharper headlights with an option for laser headlights, the car demands road presence. The bigger front air intakes too compliment the car’s solidity. The side trim now extends to the heavily redesigned rear end. The tail lights too receive an overhaul with a full-width light-strip complementing the wider exhaust tailpipe trim.

There is no official word yet about the launch in India but we cannot wait to get a hands-on experience of this beautiful luxury sedan.
