Audi unveils 2026 A2 e-tron

If the original A2 is anything to be remembered for, it was the fuel efficiency. And twenty years later, Audi has unveiled its current-day avatar, with the e-tron now harking to the future. The new EV gets a 646km range (WLTP), making it an extremely efficient EV in the segment. However, much has changed around the car itself. It will be launched in Germany with a starting price of 38,200 euros (₹41.91 lakh). Let us take a look at some of its features.

At the front, the A2 has a very visible similarity to the original A2, maintaining its curved looks. At the same time, however, it has got a hint of modernism with the blacked-out front fascia, imitating a large grille. Audi boasts a 0.24 drag coefficient for the overall design, and it also has a 2770mm wheelbase.

The Audi A2 e-tron is fitted with fully electric door handle systems, working with intelligent sensors to operate the doors. Audi claims that it only takes a “gentle touch” to open the doors, and locking only requires a “gentle” press on the sensor. By moving the gear selector to the steering column, the freed-up space in the centre console now leaves enough space to include a phone tray with inductive wireless charging, supporting up to 25 watts. It further features active cooling and has space for two smartphones. Furthermore, it also includes the MMI panoramic display, combining the 11.9-inch digital instrument cluster and 12.8-inch curved MMI touch display, which is oriented towards the driver. Customers will also have the option to choose ambient lighting and three sound systems to choose from.

The Audi A2 e-tron is loaded with a front emergency brake assist, which prevents head-on and pedestrian collisions up to approximately 85 km/h. Additionally, a swerve assist supports active steering around obstacles at speeds between 30 and 150 km/h.

There is also an optional park assist plus maneuvers the vehicle to park in the tightest of spaces with the help of ultrasonic sensors and high-resolution cameras. Moreover, there is also a rear emergency brake assist, which automatically intervenes if a collision is about to happen while reversing.

2026 Audi A2 e-tron powertrain

The Audi A2 e-tron is available in four variants, depending on the power output. It begins with the 125 kW variant, delivering 350 Nm of torque, and a combined consumption beginning at 13.7 kWh/100 km. The 140 kW variant delivers the same torque with consumption beginning at 12.8 kWh/100 km, and the 170 kW variant consumes 13.9 kWh/100 km. Meanwhile, the 240 kW variant, delivering the highest torque at 545 Nm, is the most efficient with 14.2 kWh/100 km of consumption. With these figures, Audi proudly presents the A2 e-tron as their most efficient vehicle yet.

The Audi A2 e-tron will be available to book in global markets from the fall of 2026, with deliveries expected later in December. However, it is unlikely to make it to India.
