Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ launched, prices start from Rs 2.45 crore
The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4matic+ is the first fully-electric production AMG and it has now made its way to Indian shores. Based on the EQS luxury sedan, AMG has reworked the drivetrain and the chassis to make it worthy of the performance badge. Prices for the EQS 53 4Matic+ start at Rs 2.45 crore and can be booked now.

Visually, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ is based on the standard EQS but in typical AMG fashion, it gets a bunch of visual cues like the new grille, AMG steering wheel, 21-inch wheels with bespoke Michelin Pilot Sport EV tyres, red brake callipers and many more set it apart as an AMG model.

In addition, the AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ gets the MBUX Hyperscreen infotainment system, AMG Sound Experience with various modes, ARTICO leather upholstery, while Nappa leather upholstery is optional. You also get AMG pedals and floor mats, and that's just scraping the surface of the exhaustive features list.

The EQS 53 AMG is powered by two permanent magnet synchronous motors, one on each axle, and gets a total power output of 649bhp and 950Nm of torque. However, the trump card here is the optional AMG Dynamic Plus package, which boosts the power and torque figures to a staggering total of 750bhp and 1020Nm when launch control is on! With the AMG Dynamic Plus package, the Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ propels itself from 0-100kmph in just 3.4 seconds and maxes out at a top speed of 250kmph. Without the package, it will take 3.8 seconds to complete a 0-100kmph run and the top speed is limited to 220kmph.
The AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ features a 107.8kWh battery pack and gets an 11kW AC charger as standard, while a 22kW AC charger will be available as an optional extra. With its capacity, the EQS 53 4Matic+ has the biggest battery available on an EV in India. It is also compatible with 200kW fast charging and gets a range of 300 kilometres in a 19-minute charge. The total range is 529 to 586 kilometres on the WLTP cycle.
The AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ gets all-wheel drive, AMG ride control suspension with adaptive suspension damping and rear-axle steering. The rear-axle beam has been reengineered, while the sub-frame and motor mountings are completely new. The AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ also receives a revised transverse stabilizer, wheel carriers, and control arms that have been carried over from other AMG models. Also on offer are five AMG Dynamic Select driving modes to alter the characteristics of the car, named Slippery, Comfort, Sport, Sport+, and Individual.

The Mercedes-AMG EQS 53 4Matic+ is the first all-electric AMG and in terms of rivals in India, it goes up against the Porsche Taycan Turbo and the Audi e-tron GT. Mercedes-Benz also has plans to launch the EQS 580 in India soon which will be locally assembled.
The carmaker is also investing in expanding the charging network in the country with around 140 charging points in the works ranging from 22kWAC chargers, 60kW DC chargers and 180kW DC chargers across the country. The EQS 53 4Matic+ gets a 2-year / 30,000km service interval and a 10year warranty on the battery pack.
