Tata Altroz DCA bookings open

The Tata Altroz now comes with the choice of a DCT transmission

Tata Motors is on a strong wicket currently, especially with the success of its SUVs such as the Nexon and the Tata Safari. Now the Indian carmaker has made its premium hatchback, the Tata Altroz, a lot more appealing, offering it with the choice of a DCT transmission. Dubbed the Altroz DCA, the hatchback will be offered in the top-spec variants and you can book yours starting today for Rs 21,000.

Tata Altroz DCA engine and gearbox

This is the first time the Altroz has been offered with the option of an automatic gearbox and instead of giving the Altroz an AMT, Tata Motors is offering the Altroz with a more sophisticated dual-clutch transmission. This DCT can only be had with the 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and not the 1-litre turbo petrol or the 1.5-diesel. While Tata hasn’t revealed further details about the performance of this new engine-gearbox combo, they have mentioned that the DCT will feature a wet-clutch.

Tata Altroz DCA design

The design of the Tata Altroz DCA is identical to that of the regular Altroz, and while it may be hard to visually distinguish the DCT-equipped Altroz from its manual counterpart, Tata Motors is offering the Altroz DCA with a new Opera Blue paint scheme to make things easier. The Altroz DCA will also join Tata’s Dark Edition range of cars and SUVs, joining the likes of the Tata Nexon and the Nexon EV, the Safari and the Harrier.

Tata Altroz DCA pricing and rivals

Tata Motors has commenced bookings for the Altroz DCA today for Rs 21,000 and deliveries of the hatchback are expected in mid-March. While the pricing of the Altroz DCA hasn’t been revealed yet, it is likely that the Altroz DCA be priced at a premium of Rs 70,000 to Rs 1.2 lakh over the manual Altroz, rivalling the likes of the Hyundai i20, the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, the Maruti Suzuki Swift and the Volkswagen Polo.
