Toyota Innova HyCross design

The Toyota Innova HyCross is based on the TNGA GA-C platform which is all new (shared with the Voxy minivan sold in global markets) and while the shape bears resemblance to the Crysta, the HyCross’ styling is more SUV-centric. The face is inspired by the Hilux pickup with the hexagonal grille, and you get automatic LED DRLs on the top-spec variants, along with 18-inch alloy wheels. The overall design of the HyCross is a lot more contemporary than the Crysta.

On the inside, the HyCross gets dark chestnut leather seats and soft-touch materials throughout the cabin. The dashboard gets a new layout with a gear selector that is mounted higher up, and you get a 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The HyCross also gets a panoramic sunroof, along with ventilated seats up front, paddle shifters, a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 9-speaker sound system from JBL with a subwoofer. You can spec the rear seat to be individual captain seats or a bench seat. The captain seats also get ottomans and electric adjustment for the second row. The Innova HyCross is equipped with multi-zone climate control as well as a powered tailgate.

Toyota Innova HyCross powertrain

The Innova HyCross is offered with a choice of two powertrains. The 2-litre nat-asp petrol is the more affordable choice mated to a CVT transmission, with the engine producing 172bhp of power. The self-charging hybrid powertrain that is all new is the more expensive powertrain, consisting of a 2-litre petrol engine that is assisted by an electric motor. The combined output produced by the hybrid powertrain is 184bhp and 0-100kmph comes up in a claimed 9.5 seconds. The hybrid is mated to an e-CVT transmission with paddle shifters.
