Maruti Suzuki has pulled the covers off the Baleno facelift today, launching it at ₹6.10 ex-showroom, right in time for the festive season. The second-gen Baleno has been on sale since 2022 and was due for a refresh. The Baleno, since its initial launch in 2015, has been one of Maruti Suzuki’s best-selling cars and at one point accounted for 51 per cent of sales from Maruti Suzuki’s premium Nexa dealership network.

The most visible change upfront is the new grille with chrome horizontal bars that connects both headlamps, an updated fog light housing, a sharkfin antenna, and a new ‘Enigmatic Teal’ colourway. The rear end remains largely unchanged, with the same taillight assembly and design. The exterior proportions also remain the same, with a 2520mm wheelbase.

Step inside and the cabin layout stays familiar, with some welcome additions like ventilated front seats, a Clarion sound system, a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and ADAS Level 2, which Maruti Suzuki is a segment-first feature for the Baleno.. The interior also features the same 9-inch infotainment screen as the outgoing model, which supports both wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. When it comes to safety, the 2026 Baleno gets 6 airbags as standard.

This is where the Baleno has gotten its biggest update. The 1.2-litre three-cylinder Z-series engine from the Swift replaces the outgoing model’s K-series engine and can be optioned with either a 5-speed manual or automatic transmission. The Z12E engine produces 80bhp at 5700rpm and 112Nm of torque.

The Baleno also receives a factory-fitted CNG variant, which uses the same 1.2-litre 3-cylinder engine and produces 67bhp and 101Nm of torque. The suspension setup also remains unchanged, with a MacPherson strut and coil spring setup at the front and Torsion Beam Type and Coil Spring at the rear.

2026 Maruti Suzuki Baleno pricing and rivals

At ₹ 6.10 lakh (ex-showroom, Bengaluru), the Baleno facelift receives a minor price hike of ₹10,000, while still keeping the price competitive and in line with its competition. It faces rivals like the Tata Altroz, Hyundai i20, and the Toyota Glanza, the last of which is essentially the same car with a different badge. The Glanza starts at ₹6.46 lakh, the i20 at ₹6.87 lakh, and the Altroz at ₹6.30 lakh ex-showroom.

The Altroz brings with it a sportier design and a turbocharged engine option, while the i20 is a feature-packed option. The Baleno is backed by Maruti Suzuki’s extensive service network.
