The updated Model Y gets a price drop of ₹9 lakh over the model launched in July, 2025

Tesla has updated and launched the Model Y RWD for 2026, nearly a year since its Indian debut in July 2025. Prices have seen a drop of ₹9 lakh from the original ex-showroom price of ₹59.89 lakh. In all this time, Tesla India has streamlined its portfolio with the addition of the slightly enlarged Model Y L (AWD, six-seater), priced from ₹62 lakh (ex-showroom) and the removal of Model Y Long Range battery pack variant. Here’s a glance at what’s changed in the 2026 Model Y RWD.

2026 Tesla Model Y RWD design and features

For starters, the exterior remains unchanged and even retains the same 19-inch wheels clad with aero covers. The cabin is where you will find the new bits, notably with a 16-inch front central infotainment screen which is now 0.4-inches bigger than before. You can now have the upholstery in Zen Grey or All-Black colour schemes. The dual tone scheme is no longer available. Another unchanged piece of equipment is the 8-inch central screen in the second row.

2026 Tesla Model Y RWD performance and range

What’s more? The performance and range figures stay put as its rear-mounted motor still propels it from 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds, with the same 201kmph top speed. Tesla claims a WLTP range of 500km on a full charge, same as before.

It still does 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds and delivers the same claimed WLTP range of 500km

2026 Tesla Model Y RWD additional equipment, price and rivals

It’s worth noting that the Full Self-Driving option is still priced at ₹6 lakh, but given the overall price drop the Model Y equipped with this option will still cost cheaper than before. It will be rivaled by the likes of BMW iX1 LWB, BYD Sealion 7, Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Volvo EX40.
