2027 Audi RS5 launched with plug-in hybrid power
Powered by a 2.9-litre V6 producing 630bhp and 750Nm of torque, available in Sedan and Avant (wagon)
Audi has officially taken the wraps off the all-new RS5, and this time, it’s bigger, bolder and electrified. The latest-generation RS5 arrives as a high-performance plug-in hybrid and will be offered exclusively as a Sedan and Avant (wagon). The coupe is no more, Audi has streamlined the range to focus on the body styles buyers actually want.
With a completely reworked design, a tech-heavy interior and performance figures that push it firmly into super-sedan territory, this is the most radical RS5 yet.
2027 Audi RS5 Engine and transmission
Under the bonnet, the new RS5 adopts a high-performance plug-in hybrid setup. It combines an updated 2.9-litre twin-turbo V6 petrol engine with an electric motor to deliver a claimed 630bhp and 750Nm of torque.
Audi claims a 0–100kmph time of 3.6 seconds, with a top speed of 285kmph (with the optional Sport package).
The hybrid system pairs the 503bhp V6 with a 130kW electric motor and a 25.9kWh battery pack, offering up to 52 miles (approx. 83km) of electric-only range. Power is sent to all four wheels via Audi’s quattro all-wheel-drive system, paired to an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic gearbox.
Audi has also introduced a dedicated ‘RS torque rear’ mode, allowing maximum rear-bias torque distribution for controlled drifts. A new electro-mechanical rear torque vectoring system can redistribute torque between the rear wheels in just 15 milliseconds.
2027 Audi RS5 Design
Visually, the new RS5 clearly separates itself from the standard A5 and S5 models. The front grille is significantly larger and more dominant, taking up almost the entire nose. The deeper-set headlights mark an evolution of Audi’s RS design language, giving the car a more aggressive expression.
The body is noticeably wider, 40mm broader on each side, with pronounced flared arches and a lower stance. At the rear, signature dual oval exhausts, a large diffuser and sculpted aero elements reinforce its performance intent.
Buyers can opt for extensive carbon-fibre elements, including carbon exterior trim, carbon mirror caps and carbon interior inlays, enhancing both aesthetics and weight savings.
2027 Audi RS5 Interior and features
Inside, the cabin is dominated by Audi’s latest-generation digital displays. The layout features a large central touchscreen, alongside a fully digital Audi Virtual Cockpit with RS-specific graphics.
Carbon bucket seats are available as an option, while standard features include a head-up display, OLED lighting elements, performance telemetry, multiple RS drive modes and configurable suspension settings.
Drivers can customise steering weight, throttle response, suspension firmness and power delivery, including regenerative braking intensity and hybrid management modes such as ‘RS Sport’ and ‘RS Torque Rear’.
2027 Audi RS5 Options
The RS5 is offered in both Sedan and Avant body styles. Optional performance packages add higher top speed unlock (285kmph), enhanced cooling, sport-tuned chassis settings and upgraded braking hardware, including massive 420mm front and 400mm rear brakes.
2027 Audi RS5 Rivals
The new RS5 squares off against the BMW M3 and the plug-in hybrid Mercedes-AMG C 63 S E Performance, both of which occupy the high-performance executive sedan segment.
2027 Audi RS5 Price and launch in India
Audi has priced the new RS5 at €106,200 (approx. ₹1.14 crore) for the Sedan and €107,850 for the Avant in Germany. There is currently no confirmation regarding an India launch.
With electrified performance, 630bhp on tap and significantly more tech than before, the 2027 RS5 marks a bold new chapter for Audi Sport, blending hybrid efficiency with traditional RS aggression.
