5-seater Volkswagen Tayron Life launched at ₹42 lakh; ₹5 lakh cheaper than the Tayron R-Line
The VW Tayron Life gets the same 2-litre engine as the Tayron R-Line, Level 2 ADAS, electric seats with massaging, big screens, and 18-inch wheels

Volkswagen has launched the 5-seater Tayron Life in India at ₹42 lakh, which is ₹5 lakh more-affordable than the higher Tayron R-Line. Currently, the Tayron R-Line is being locally assembled at Chakan, in Pune, and the Life variant will be locally-assembled here as well. The Tayron Life seats five instead of seven, gets 18-inch wheels instead of 19-inchers, and gets leatherette upholstery compared to Alcantara in the Tayron R-Line. Other features include electric seats, ADAS, and more.
Volkswagen Tayron Life differences compared to R-Line
The VW Tayron Life’s biggest differentiator compared to the R-Line is that it seats five instead of seven. This also means you get slightly more boot space at 885 litres compared to 850. Other changes include 18-inch wheels in the Life compared to 19-inchers, and an 8-speaker audio system in place of a 700W 11-speaker Harman Kardon audio. The Life variant gets plastic-like black roof rails and body cladding, which looks less premium than the Tayron R-Line. The cabin gets leatherette upholstery compared to Alcantara upholstery and sport seats in the R-Line. The Life variant’s dashboard is dominated by a 13-inch floating screen, while the R-Line gets a larger 15-inch screen. Life also makes do with a rear view camera unlike a 360-degree camera like in R-Line.
Volkswagen Tayron Life performance and features
The VW Tayron Life gets a 2-litre TSI engine that makes 201bhp and 320Nm, same engine and state of tune as the R-Line. 0 to 100kmph in 7.3 seconds (claimed). The Tayron Life variant’s cabin looks very similar to the R-Line’s cabin and shares many features. It includes electric front seats with massaging, heating, and ventilation, Level 2 ADAS, 360-degree camera, two wireless chargers, paddle shifters, panoramic sunroof, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10.25-inch cluster, three-zone climate control, and six driving modes.
