ARAI to showcase India’s first ADAS Test City at ‘The ADAS Show’

The Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) is all set to showcase its state-of-the-art ADAS Test City at the ADAS Show on 12th September 2025.

The ADAS Test City is a one-of-a-kind proving ground, located in Takwe near Talegaon, Pune, spans 20 acres and replicates real-world Indian road conditions to test and validate Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

ADAS Test City: A first for India

The ADAS Test City has been designed as a pseudo city, featuring complex traffic layouts, varying road surfaces, and realistic driving scenarios. It provides a safe, secure, and repeatable environment for automakers, tier-1 suppliers, and tech innovators to rigorously evaluate their ADAS technologies before they hit Indian roads.

Speaking about the initiative, Dr. Reji Mathai, Director of ARAI, said:

“Advanced Driver Assistance Systems are pivotal in enhancing road safety, and ARAI remains committed to driving the adoption of safe, smart, and sustainable mobility solutions. Our upcoming ADAS Smart City Track represents a landmark initiative — India’s first dedicated proving ground designed to enable manufacturers to rigorously test and validate their technologies in real-world conditions.”

He further added that this facility would boost indigenous ADAS and autonomous vehicle development, supporting India’s growing auto-tech and start-up ecosystem.

What’s on display at 'The ADAS Show'

At the showcase, visitors will witness live demonstrations of cutting-edge driver-assistance technologies, including:

Adaptive Cruise Control System (ACC)

Blind Spot Detection System (BSDS)

Automatic Parking System (PAS)

Lane Departure Warning System (LDWS)

Automatic Emergency Braking System (AEBS)

Adaptive Front Lights System (AFLS)

Traffic Sign Recognition System (TSR)

Forward Collision Warning System (FCW)

Driver Monitoring System (DMS)

Night Vision System (NVS)

Pedestrian Detection System (PDS)

Traffic Jam Assistance Systems (TJAS)

ADAS until now has been developed by OEMs in an isolated manner with no access to India-specific data. While Mahindra and Tata have been developing their ADAS systems that are tuned in a better manner for Indian conditions, there is very little scope to test and validate it. The ADAS Test City will change that and ARAI is taking a big leap towards shaping India’s future of smart mobility and safer roads.
