BMW brought its past, present and future together at Monterey Car Week 2026
The BMW M Concept Neue Klasse, Vision BMW ALPINA and 40 years of the M3 headline BMW’s biggest Monterey showcase yet

BMW made a major appearance at Monterey Car Week 2026, bringing together three sides of the brand. The company will showcase its vision for the future of electric performance cars, unveil the next chapter of ALPINA and celebrate four decades of the BMW M3 with a collection of historic road and racing cars.
BMW M Concept Neue Klasse takes centre stage
The highlight of BMW’s event is the new BMW M Concept Neue Klasse, an all-electric performance concept that offers an early look at the next generation of BMW M cars. It features four electric motors, one at each wheel, giving the driver precise control over the car’s behaviour.
At the heart of the system is an M-specific version of BMW’s “Heart of Joy” high performance computer. BMW says the system integrates wheel-specific control of the drivetrain and braking systems, enabling more direct responses, improved traction and greater control over the car’s driving dynamics.
Vision BMW ALPINA previews a new era of luxury
BMW also revealed the Vision BMW ALPINA at Monterey Car Week, offering a look at how the marque will evolve under the ownership of the BMW Group. The Vision BMW ALPINA features a low, coupé-like silhouette with a distinctive front end. The cabin combines leather, metal and crystal design elements, highlighting an emphasis on craftsmanship and material quality.
BMW celebrates 40 years of the M3
The BMW M3 turns 40 this year, and BMW marked the occasion with an exhibition covering the model’s history. The display included significant road and racing versions of the M3, beginning with the original E30 M3 and continuing through later generations.
BMW also took the M3 anniversary onto the track at the Rolex Monterey Motorsports Reunion, where four generations of M3 racing cars will be demonstrated. Among them were the E30 M3 DTM and E92 M3 GT, showcasing the connection between BMW’s motorsport programme and its production M cars.
Kith for BMW returns for 2026
BMW’s relationship with fashion and lifestyle brand Kith also continued at Monterey Car Week. Kith founder and CEO Ronnie Fieg along with BMW design leadership featured in an invite-only discussion panel where BMW and Kith showcased bespoke BMW vehicles and preview the 2026 collection.
