Citroen has updated its coupe-SUV, now called the Basalt X. It comes with a host of new features and due to GST reforms, the top-end variant is now priced at a much more attractive ₹12.89 lakh.

The changes on the Citroen Basalt X include a new interior dash layout that has fewer curves and more straight lines. The dash and doors receive a tan leatherette treatment. The Basalt X uses new materials and gets satin gold accents as well. Down low, it gets a new centre console. It also gets diffused ambient lighting to elevate the cabin. In addition, the Basalt X gets ventilated seats and tropicalized (adapted to our climatic conditions) auto AC. A redesigned gear lever and a Brown Marse interior theme round off the update.

The dashboard gets new screens - a 26cm infotainment system, and a 17.7 cm digital cluster. The Basalt X also gets a new Halo-Cam 360-degree camera that will cost ₹25k extra with auto-dimming IVRMs Proxi-Sense PEPS, and Cruise Control with speed limiter. The dual-tone roof will be a ₹21k option as well.It gets a new start-stop system for improved fuel efficiency. It also gets a full front LED setup that includes LED Vision projector headlamps, LED Projector front fog lamps and LED DRLs. The highlight of the Basalt X is the CARA AI assistant, that is developed in India and will be later released in the global markets.

Citroen has also said that the dealer network will almost double, from 88 to 150 outlets although the timeline for this hasn’t been announced yet. That said, the recent GST reforms bring about a sizeable drop in pricing and that should benefit Citroen on the sales charts. The regular Basalt, termed as 'You' now costs ₹7.95 lakh. The 'Plus' variant that is naturally aspirated costs, and also the start of the Basalt X range costs ₹9.42 lakh. The top-end Basalt X will now cost ₹12.89 lakh as compared to the previous top-end variant of the Basalt that was priced at ₹13.87 lakh.
