JSW MG Motor India has launched a limited-run ‘Couture Edition’ of the Cyberster and the M9, in collaboration with renowned fashion designer of global provenance, Gaurav Gupta who makes the automotive sculptures of these EVs his latest canvas, bringing his popular 'Serpent Infinity' motif to the already edgy-looking MGs.
These snazzier Couture Edition derivatives of the Cyberster and the M9 sit at the top of the standard counterparts of the said model range. This edition commands a premium of about ₹5 lakh over the standard variants. The Couture Edition M9 is priced at ₹84.94 lakh and the Cyberster is priced at ₹87.49 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). Here are the salient aesthetic features and technical specifications of the Cyberster and the M9, which remain unchanged for this limited-run of MGs.
MG Cyberster Couture Edition
The notable changes done to the exterior of the Cyberster are the golden MG monograms, the swirly and trailing golden accents muttered across the bodywork in a symmetrical manner. The subtle bonnet bulge of the roadster houses two serpent figurines creating Gaurav Gupta’s signature ‘Infinity Serpent’ motif, synonymous with his work in the world of couture.
This electric roadster remains the same underneath. Propelled by an AWD drivetrain from its dual-motor setup which churns out a peak system output of 503bhp and 725Nm of torque. It can catapult itself from standstill to 100kmph in 3.2 seconds. It is available in a single battery option of 77kWh which delivers an MIDC-certified range of 580km on a full-charge. MG M9 Couture Edition
Gaurav Gupta continues his nature-driven vision on this luxe electric MPV, which also features the serpent-led graphics all across the exterior, but it features a single 3D serpent element on the front part of the bonnet.
The M9 is an executive-tourer in a van-like body. It’s meant to be your plush and comfy companion for the long-haul. It’s also offered with a single, 90kWh battery pack housed in the M9’s floor but unlike the Cyberster, it’s driven by a front-mounted single motor. This setup makes a peak output of 241bhp and 350Nm of torque and delivers a claimed WLTP range of 400km when 100 per cent charged. Read our first drive review for more.
