First Maruti Suzuki BEV to be launched by the end of 2024, confirms President of Suzuki Motor Corporation

This upcoming Maruti Suzuki BEV will also be exported to Japan and Europe

Maruti Suzuki is poised to launch its first BEV by year-end. Mr. Toshihiro Suzuki, President of Suzuki Motor Corporation, confirmed this during his speech at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. He also stated that this Maruti Suzuki BEV would be exported to Japan and Europe.

He added that the group will invest Rs 3,200 crore in the Suzuki Motor Gujarat plant to add a new production line capable of producing 2.5 lakh vehicles per year. This new production line, the fourth in the plant, is expected to increase the plant's annual production capacity to 10 lakh units from the current 7.5 lakh capacity.

In addition, Rs 35,000 crore will be invested in a second manufacturing plant in Gujarat, with a production capacity of 10 lakh units per year. This will increase the annual capacity of Maruti Suzuki in Gujarat to 20 lakh units.

In addition to vehicle electrification, the President stated that Maruti Suzuki will offer a variety of options for reducing greenhouse gas emissions, including CNG, biogas, bioethanol, and green hydrogen. The company will also begin producing biogas from cow dung, and construction on four biogas plants in the state has already begun.

Speaking about the company's goals for the year, the President predicted that this fiscal year would see 2.6 times more export sales and 1.7 times more vehicle production than a decade ago.
