Honda Amaze (3rd-gen) becomes India's second compact sedan with 5-star BNCAP ratingThe third-generation Honda Amaze has become the latest compact sedan to shine in the Bharat NCAP (BNCAP) crash safety tests, securing an impressive 5-star rating. With growing consumer focus on vehicular safety, manufacturers have been steadily improving structural integrity, active safety tech, and occupant protection. The Amaze’s result reinforces Honda’s commitment to safety in one of India’s most competitive segments.
Tested under the updated Bharat NCAP protocols, the 3rd-gen Amaze posted strong numbers, earning 28.33 points out of 32 for adult occupant protection and an equally reassuring 40.81 points out of 49 for child occupant protection. In terms of safety equipment, Honda has packed the Amaze with features to match its rating. The sedan gets six airbags, ABS, ESP, hill-start assist, ISOFIX child-seat mounts, seatbelt reminders for all occupants, and a tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS). Higher variants also get a rear-view camera, Honda Sensing-based alerts, and emergency calling (e-call) functionality.
Powering the 3rd-gen Amaze is Honda’s refined 1.2-litre i-VTEC petrol engine, producing 90bhp and 110Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or a CVT. Honda claims notable improvements in NVH, chassis stiffness, and overall refinement over the outgoing model.

For comparison, the popular Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire, another strong contender in the compact sedan segment, also holds a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating with robust scores in occupant protection.
The Amaze is available in three trims — V, VX, and ZX — with prices ranging from ₹7.45 lakh to ₹10 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom). The only question now remains is — which one would you pick: the Honda Amaze or the Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire?
