For quite some time now, the Hyundai Tucson has held a strong spot in the manufacturer’s SUV range. However, with the reveal of the all-new Tucson, Hyundai seems to have a clear goal in mind – making it remarkable. The 2027 Tucson is bigger in every sense, loaded with technology, and yet driver-friendly with the presence of physical buttons in the centre console (yes, in 2026). Here’s a deeper dive into the features of the all-new Tucson.

2027 Hyundai Tucson Powertrains

The powertrain lineup is based on the 1.6 T-GDI petrol engine. The pure gasoline ICE base variant produces 145.8bhp and 250Nm. Meanwhile, the hybrid powertrain produces 238.2bhp and 380Nm, and the plug-in hybrid (PHEV) produces 284bhp and 380Nm. The 17.1kWh battery on the latter provides an 81km electric only range. It comes with a 7.2kW on-board charger, which supports AC charging. The petrol engine is offered with a six-speed manual transmission and a seven-speed DCT. Meanwhile, the HEV and PHEV feature a 6-speed automatic transmission.

2027 Hyundai Tucson exterior design

The all-new Hyundai Tucson is 35mm longer, 35mm wider and 20mm taller than its predecessor.

Right from the first glance, the exterior has changed massively, giving the SUV an overall boxy design. The overall size of the Tucson has also increased, measuring 4,560 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width, and 1,670 mm in height. This is roughly 35mm longer, 35mm wider and 20mm taller than its predecessor. The wheelbase measures 2,720 mm with a 169mm ground clearance. Depending on specification, the Tucson will also be available with Micro Pixel Lighting (MPL), which will use 25,600 individual LED pixels. This will be integrated into the system and use controlled beam patterns to showcase welcome and farewell animations.

The increased size of the Tucson also reflects changes in the interior, with headroom and legroom increased in the first and second rows. The seats also feature Ergo Motion with a seven-cell pneumatic lumbar/bolster massage, and a four-link relaxation seat with a 10-degree incline. A multi-air mode system provides climate comfort in the latest Tucson with a three-zone climate-control system. The all-new Tucson has two available display sizes: 12.9-inches and 17-inches. These are equipped with Pleos Connect, which is based on Android Automotive OS. Iit also features the AI-enhanced Gleo AI voice recognition system. The latter can access live data from the internet, allowing drivers to access functions and information without navigating through multiple on-screen menus. To further reduce driver distraction, the Tucson also has a separate 9.9-inch driver display.

The infotainment system is paired with a 12-speaker Bang & Olufsen audio system, and it also includes the Hyundai Digital Key 2, which is compatible with smartphones and smartwatches to unlock and start the vehicle. Despite the massive display in the centre console, the Tucson has physical buttons below it to access key functions. It further features two 15W wireless charging pads and four 100W USB-C ports.

The Memory Reverse Assist (MRA) records up to 50 metres of forward manoeuvring at speeds of up to 30kmph to support the driver by controlling the steering while reversing along the recorded route. Meanwhile, the Ground View Monitor (GVM) on 4WD models provides an enhanced view of the area directly beneath the SUV. It is further equipped with a Remote Smart Parking Assist (RSPA) and a digital centre mirror. The list of driver assists doesn’t stop there. It also has the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist 2 and Highway Driving Assist 2 technologies. The Intelligent Speed Limit Assist and Navigation-based Smart Cruise Control further add to the list.

2027 Hyundai Tucson safety

The safety features in the 2027 Tucson include seven airbags, including driver and front passenger airbags, front-side airbags, a centre-side airbag, and full-length curtain airbags. Meanwhile, the body structure uses hot-stamped high-strength steel to further reinforce the centre pillars to manage the impact forces in the event of a collision.

It also features an In-Cabin Monitoring Unit which uses a camera to monitor driver attention and occupant conditions. Hyundai claims it is capable of detecting factors such as driver gaze, signs of drowsiness, etc. and providing appropriate warnings. Child Presence Detection (CPD) and Rear Occupant Alert (ROA) provide additional support by alerting drivers when an occupant may have been left in the vehicle.

The Hyundai Tucson seems prepared for the next generation. Although not completely electric, the hybrid powertrains could be promising in terms of fuel efficiency. Although it hasn’t been revealed whether it’s India-bound, Hyundai teased that a ‘further dynamically styled’ Tucson will make its debut at the Paris Motor Show on October 12.
