Kia Syros EV launched in India at ₹13.49 lakh
The Kia Syros EV is offered with two battery pack options and it also gets BaaS
Kia has finally revealed the pricing for the recently unveiled Syros EV ,with prices starting from ₹13.49 lakh and going up to ₹19.99 lakh (ex-showroom). With BaaS (Battery As A Service), the price of the EV starts from ₹ 7.99 lakh (ex-showroom). Kia Syros EV design
The Kia Syros EV maintains the boxy silhouette and overall design as the ICE-engined Syros with the only differences being the EV badging and a charging port on the front fender.
The front end features LED headlamps along with DRLs with integrated turn indicators while the rear features LED tail lamps. The car is equipped with 17-inch dual-tone aero alloy wheels on the top-spec variants, with lower variants receiving 16-inch wheels. The Syros EV will likely continue to stand out in a parking lot full of cars, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

The cabin largely remains unchanged with the only major difference being the three spoke steering wheel, which differs from the two-spoke unit found on the ICE version. Both front and rear seats feature ventilation, with 4-way powered adjustment for the driver’s seat. There are multiple USB-C charging ports throughout the cabin including a new 100W front USB-C charging port. The cabin features 64-colour ambient mood lighting with footwell lighting and a smart dashcam with dual cameras. There’s also a dual pane panoramic sunroof and rear-window sunshades. The dashboard features a 12.3-inch instrument cluster along with a 12.3-inch infotainment screen with support for wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay which is mated to an 8-speaker Harmon Kardon sound system.
Kia Syros EV battery and performance
The Syros EV is available in two battery capacities, a 42kWh variant which produces 133bhp and a 51.4kWh variant which produces 169bhp, although both battery pack variants produce 255Nm of torque. The ARAI-certified range for the Syros EV is 526 km (MIDC Full) with the 51.4 kWh Extended Range battery and 443 km range (MIDC Full) with the 42 kWh battery. The Syros EV supports AC charging speeds of up to 11kW, with DC charging speeds capped at 100kW. A 10-80 per cent charge will take the 42kWh battery pack 4 hours with an 11kW AC charger, while the 51.4kWh battery pack will take 4 hours 50 minutes for the same. Kia claims both battery pack options can be charged from 10-80 per cent in 39 minutes with a 100kW DC fast charger. Coming to the performance, the 51.4kWh variant does 0-100kmph in a claimed 8.1 seconds, and to give you some perspective, that is 4.53 seconds quicker than the turbo-petrol Syros. The Syros EV is also equipped with EV-specific features including paddle shifters which help adjust levels of regenerative braking with Auto Mode, Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS) for pedestrian safety, and a Battery Heating System. Kia offers a Lifetime High Voltage Battery Warranty of 15 years with unlimited kilometers.
Kia Syros EV pricing and rivals
Pricing for the Kia Syros EV start range ₹13.49 lakh to ₹19.99 lakh, and that makes it more expensive than the Mahindra XUV 3XO EV or the Tata Nexon EV. However, the Kia offers a larger battery pack as standard compared to both the Mahindra and the Tata, and Kia also offers the option of the Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme which lowers the cost buying the Syros EV to ₹7.99 lakh, with a battery EMI of ₹3.3 per kilometre. Kia is also offering an assured buyback programme with a resale-value up to 80 per cent after 3 years for the Syros EV, and owners can choose if they want to sell their vehicle or trade it in for another one using the programme.
