Land Rover has introduced the new Defender Trophy and this competition is inspired by the Trophy and Challenge events of the past. This global competition will invite entries from more than 50 countries and local selections will take place before the national finals take place in the next spring. The global final will be hosted with Defender’s conservation partner, Tusk, in Africa in 2026.

How does the Defender Trophy work?
Entrants of the Defender Trophy competition will be facing obstacles and a selection of mental as well as physical challenges. While more details of the Defender Trophy’s unique format are yet to be revealed, we do know that the global finalists will go up against one another across a series of stages. Competitors will be scored individually but compete in pairs, with the lowest-ranked competitor being given the first pick of potential teammates ahead of each stage.

The Defender Trophy includes driving challenges which will test the driving ability and navigation skills of the participants
The challenges which are part of the Defender Trophy include driving challenges which will test the driving ability and navigation skills of the participants, ingenuity challenges where teams will have to think fast, work smart and keep their cool, as well as physical challenges which will focus on physical strength, coordination and teamwork as the teams traverse canyons and cross rivers. The progress of the teams will be shared online and the winners of the global final will get the opportunity to complete a conservation mission with Defender’s conservation partner, Tusk.

Defender Trophy eligibility
Eligibility for the Defender Trophy requires entrants to be a resident of a participating country, being over 23 years old, having the ability to swim 50-metres, being able to drive and travel internationally and speaking English fluently.
