Mahindra Racing was one of the founding teams of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship, and to celebrate their involvement in the series throughout its 11 seasons, the Indian automaker has launched the Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition. The Formula E Edition of the BE 6 electric SUV is available in two variants and is offered solely with the 79kWh battery pack option. The BE 6 Formula E Edition gets circular projector headlamps which we first saw on the BE Rall-E concept
Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition styling
The Mahindra BE 6 was always an SUV with a striking design, and with the Formula E Edition, it appears to have gotten sharper and more race car-like. There are four colour schemes on offer – Everest White, Firestorm Orange, Stealth Black and the Tango Red that you see here – and the front bumper has been blacked out in a bid to make the BE 6 look even sportier. Compared to the standard BE 6, the Formula E Edition gets circular projector headlamps – just like we had seen on the Mahindra BE Rall-E concept car a few years earlier, and the electric SUV rides on 20-inch alloy wheels, with Firestorm Orange-coloured brake callipers hiding behind them. There are enough badges and graphics all around to remind you that this is no run of the mill Mahindra BE 6, and it’s a similar story with the interior as well.

The interior of the BE 6 Formula E Edition gets Firestorm Orange accents

Step inside and the interior of the BE 6 and you notice the sportier enhancements in the form of the Firestorm Orange elements contrasting with the all-black cabin. You get a FIA and Formula E Edition plaque finished in orange on the centre console while another Formula E logo is present on the passenger side of the dashboard, as well as on the seats. The seat belts get FIA branding, and there are many more orange accents around the cabin including on the steering wheel, on the infotainment system controller, the electronic parking brake, start/stop button as well as the door open straps. Even the pattern on the speakers and the wireless charger have a black and orange theme. Other changes on the Formula E Edition of the Mahindra BE 6 include a custom Formula E-inspired start-up animation and ‘engine sounds’, and rounding all of it up is a flap which covers the start/stop button, claimed to be inspired by race cars. There are two variants on offer and both of these are heavily-loaded with features, which was always a strong suit of the BE 6.
Mahindra BE 6 Formula E Edition powertrain
The Formula E Edition of the BE 6 continues to get the same powertrain as the standard model. In terms of battery capacities, you only get the 79kWh battery pack with the BE 6 Formula E Edition and the electric SUV produces 282bhp (210kW) of power from its electric powertrain. 0-100kmph comes up in a claimed 6.7 seconds, the top speed is 202kmph, and the SUV has a claimed real-world range of 500km.
