Mahindra XUV 7XO scores a 5 star Bharat NCAP rating

The Mahindra XUV 7XO has secured a 5-star rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (BNCAP), scoring 30.76 out of 32 for adult occupant protection and 44.97 out of 49 for child occupant protection in the 2026 test cycle. Notably, it scored a perfect 16 out of 16 in the side movable deformable barrier test, with 14.76 out of 16 in the frontal offset deformable barrier test. The result places it among the safest three-row SUVs currently on sale in India. Notably, these ratings are standard throughout all the variants.

In terms of safety, the XUV 7XO comes with six airbags as standard across all variants, with higher trims getting a seventh curtain airbag that extends coverage to the third row. Active safety is handled by ABS (Anti-lock Braking System) with EBD (Electronic Brakeforce Distribution), an Electronic Stability Program, and traction control. The SUV also gets Level 2 ADAS via Mahindra's Sense+ suite in the AX7L and AX7T variants, which offer 17 functions including adaptive cruise control, lane-keep assist, and autonomous emergency braking, along with a 540-degree surround camera system.

In terms of the competition, the XUV 7X0 scores marginally higher than its rival, the Tata Safari, which also scored a 5-star BNCAP rating, for both adult occupant protection (30.76 points to the Safari’s 30.08), and child occupant protection (44.97 points to the Safari’s 44.54) – making it one of the safest SUVs in its class, making it the safer SUV of the two.
