Mercedes-Benz unveils the new generation CLA
The Mercedes-Benz CLA is now electric and gets slightly raised suspension for India

Mercedes-Benz CLA Electric
Mercedes-Benz debuted its CLA Electric for the Indian market on February 23, 2026. Its bookings will open from March 10, 2026. It is termed as the most intelligent Mercedes-Benz ever with supercomputer and AI integration. Here are all the details you need to know about it.

Mercedes-Benz CLA250+
Mercedes-Benz CLA powertrain and battery
The CLA is launched in one variant, the CLA250+ AMG line and has a rear-mounted 85.5kWh battery pack. This pack produces 268bhp and 335Nm with a claimed WLTP range of 792kms on a full charge. The claimed 0-100kmph time is 6.7sec. The car also debuts a first in segment 2-step transmission. The first gear is a short 11:1 ratio for high initial acceleration, and a taller 5:1 ratio second gear for efficiency as the speed builds.
Mercedes-Benz India gives an 8 year warranty on the battery along with a buyback scheme. The car is built on a 800V architecture, which allows it to be charged with a 320kW DC charger.
Mercedes-Benz CLA design
The first thing to note is that this is a 4723mm long car – that is only 28mm short of the C-Class. Which means it is a significantly longer car than the generation of CLA India got previously.
It also ensures you know it is a Mercedes-Benz. In the front, it has tristar shaped DRLs, the blanked-off grille has 142 illuminated tristars, full length light bar, and the Mercedes-Benz logo lights up along with them. The alloy wheels are 18-inchers as a part of the AMG Line styling kit. This kit also includes aggressive bumpers, and side skirts. Air inlets on the front bumper are positioned for better aerodynamics to give the car a drag coefficient of 0.21. At the rear there is a full connected LED tail-lamp with the tristar logo element inculcated in them.
Mercedes-Benz CLA interior
On the inside you see a new Mercedes design language. With the AMG Line interiors, the design is meant to impart a classy yet sporty appeal. The turbine inspired vents are of a new design and the trim on the centre console is light brushed aluminum. It gets a 10.25-inch drivers’ display and a 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The 3-spoke steering wheel comes with touch controls. Just in case you forget what you are in, the interior has a glass panel in front of the passenger seat which is illuminated with the tristars. While there is a panoramic glass roof, it does not get a closable cover to avoid the sunlight, but it has been tested to withstand 50+ degree Celcius of external heat. Also, the fabric on the seats is made of recycled PET bottles.
Mercedes-Benz CLA features
The CLA now gets the 4th generation of the MBUX interface and with it debuts the MB.OS, which introduces AI functionalities to the cars system.
It also gets heated front seats with memory function, a wireless phone charger, driving aids like a 360-degree camera and Level 2 ADAS as standard. All the 6 USB type C ports get a 100W fast charging capability. The suspension for India has been raised for Indian road conditions.
Mercedes-Benz CLA price
Mercedes-Benz has launched the CLA in only one variant in India, the CLA250+ which is a CBU and will be followed by a hybrid variant as soon as next year. Prices will be announced in April 2026.
