The Mini Countryman C will be locally assembled in India

Mini has launched the Countryman C in the Indian market and prices for the SUV start from ₹47.50 lakh (ex-showroom). The Mini Countryman C will be locally assembled at the BMW Group plant in Chennai and will be powered solely by a 1.5-litre petrol engine. The Countryman C sits below the Countryman JCW All4 in Mini’s model line-up, the latter being a CBU. The Countryman C goes up against rivals like the BMW X1, Mercedes-Benz GLA and Audi Q3. Mini have also looked funky in terms of their design and the Countryman C is no different. The design and body surfacing appears to be cleaner than the previous generation, and the octagonal grille, plus the adaptive LED headlights and redesigned matrix LED tail lamps ensure that this SUV is a head-turner. The DRLs and the tail lamps also allow you to choose between 3 light signature options. You get 19-inch dual-tone wheels on the Mini Countryman C, along with 190mm of ground clearance, and the SUV is available in five exterior colour options.

The typically funky design theme continues over to the interior in typically Mini fashion and at the centre of it all is the 13.7-inch circular OLED display with coated glass to avoid glare / reflections. The Countryman C is also equipped with electrically adjustable JCW Sport Seats. Other features include a heating sports steering wheel, a Harman Kardon 12-speaker sound system, a 360-degree camera, Level 1 ADAS and a panoramic glass roof and a wireless phone charger. Also present in the cabin is ambient lighting. The Countryman C also gets 505-litres of boot space, in comparison its rivals like the GLA which gets 425-litres and the Q3, which has a boot capacity of 530-litres.

The Mini Countryman C is powered by a 1.5-litre 3-cylinder engine which makes 154bhp of power and 240Nm of torque, allowing it to accelerate from 0 to 100kmph in 9 seconds along with a top speed of 212kmph (claimed). This Countryman C shares this engine with the BMW X1, but the latter runs a lower state of tune. The engine is mated to a 7-speed Steptronic transmission which sends power to the front wheels.

Prices for the Mini Countryman C start from ₹47.50 lakh (ex-showroom) for the Favoured Pack – the only variant that the Countryman C can be had with as of now – allowing the Mini to undercut the Mercedes-Benz GLA which is priced at ₹51.80 lakh and the BMW X1 priced at ₹50.90 lakh. Interestingly, the Audi Q3 undercuts the Countryman C with a price tag of ₹43.67 lakh, while the Q3 Sportback is more expensive than the Mini, priced at ₹54.25 lakh.
