While globally Land Rover has launched many special editions, the Land Rover’s bespoke SV division has crafted the first ever special edition for India - the Range Rover SV Ranthambore Edition. Priced at ₹4.98 crore (ex-showroom), it is limited to just 12 units. This special edition gets its inspiration from the presence and character of a tiger in its natural habitat and honours the Ranthambore national park for the role it plays in preserving them. Let’s take a deeper look into the design inspirations drawn by Land Rover for this edition from a tiger.
The Ranthambore Edition gets some unique exterior and interior elements that make it stand apart from the rest of the line-up. The exterior colour is a bespoke deep black with rich red shimmering effect, which draws inspiration from a tiger’s colours, and the Corinthian bronze and Anthracite accents symbolise the tiger’s stripes. The same Corinthian bronze inserts make their way to the 23-inch dark grey wheels as well.
The interiors too carry the same inspiration. The seat upholstery is a combination of Caraway and light Perlino semi-aniline leather with contrast stitching. The artistic embroidery on the seats is a motif inspired by the stripes as they meet on the spine of a tiger. The cabin is made more luxurious by the inclusion of customised scatter cushions, chrome jewellery finishes, light linear wenge wood veneers and white ceramic dials. The tread plates are SV bespoke branded with ‘Ranthambore Edition’ and ‘1 of 12’ designation.
The car is based on the long-wheelbase version of the Range Rover and apart from the design elements for Ranthambore Edition, the car also gets the SV elements. They include a fully reclinable seat, powered club table, deployable cupholders and a refrigerated compartment which also has SV etched glassware.
The Range Rover SV Ranthambore Edition is powered by a 3-litre, 6-cylinder turbo-petrol engine producing 394bhp and 550Nm. The same engine is seen on the Autobiography as well. The portion of the proceeds from each sale of the Ranthambore Edition will be donated to the Wildlife Conservation Trust of India by Land Rover.
